His i-130 got approved on June 12th 2018. The reason why it was expedited is because we indicated that we wanted to proceed with adjustments of status (vs. Consular Process) when we filed the i-130. It is an option that the newer i-130 form request you to mark.

Actually, it's not really true what you are saying about your husband's I-130. I did indicated that I'm legally in country and will apply for AOS, so did many people I know, but our I-130 still stuck in California Service center.  It's not a new option for I-130, it has been there since they created Chart B.

I agree with Clotillda. I remember also indicating on our I-130 that we wanted to proceed with AOS, but this did not affect how fast our I-130 was approved. (Our I-130 even still ended up with NVC 😅) I think it still depends on the charts, and how busy the office that gets your documents is. My theory is that Lauracroft just happend to file at a time when the office that handled their case wasn't that busy, and lucked out on fast processing and approval. I could be wrong, this is just what I think happened.

Come to update my case and ask if anyone knows about the situation.

I completed the interview early this week and the IO said everything looks good and they are now only waiting for my original I-130 petition document, and after then they are able to make decision. I am asking is it always the case that they need wait for the original petition to transfer to them before they can make a decision? And if so, how long will it be?

Thanks.

P.S., my petition has been approved and transferred to NVC. But for now I don't know where it is.

If the IO said everything looks good, maybe waiting for the petition document is just a formality? I am also not sure about your situation, but I hope all the best for you. Keep us updated!

Hi everyone, just wanted to give you guys an update. After getting really annoyed this weekend because I saw i-130 approval everywhere on facebook for PD up to May, I tried to submit a case inquiry which did not work because the system wouldn't let me. Only case inquires with PD January 28th or somewhere around that where allowed. So I gave up. Sunday my husband checked the mail because we haven't checked it during the week. I received a "heavy" letter from USCIS. It was the notice of my interview result stating the reason fro continuance. "Your i-485 interview is complete and appears to be approvable" but since my PD is not current my file will be transferred to TSC or NBC. Attached to the letter was the March Visa Bulletin. Either TSC or NBC will make the final decision when my PD becomes current. I thought ok, maybe my i-130 will be approved at the same time then. But I received another surprise today in the mail: my approval notice for my i-130. Even though it is not the official i-485, I am glad that I got that out of the way.

I don't expect the GC until the summer but I do hope to get it before September as I am planning to travel outside of the country.

Congratulations @thepanda! I am so happy for you, and that your journey is about to find its happy ending! Just a few more steps and you're there!

Hello everyone,

Good to hear our cases are progressing no matter how slowly.

Is anyone preparing to apply for new EAD/AP combo cards?

My card will expire in August and since my case status is still at the "waiting to schedule an interview" stage, I intend to apply for a new EAD card.

Considering the processing times for I-765 applications at the NBC is 4.5 Months to 6.5 Months, when will be the best time to submit the application?

Thanks

Hi Enigma,

From my research, I’ve found (on the USCIS website) that you can file for EAD renewal as soon as 180 days before your current EAD expiration.

https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/employment-authorization-document

For AP, I’ve read from other forums that you can’t file sooner than 120 days before your current AP expiration. I couldn’t find more info on this on the USCIS website.

https://www.trackitt.com/usa-discussion-forums/i765/1850343557/ead-ap-combo-card-renewal

I also found that EAD’s are granted automatic 180 days extension when filed for reason of pending AOS.

https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/automatic-employment-authorization-document-ead-extension

My combo card also expires on August, and I am planning on filing for a renewal this April. I’ll let you know when I have more info.

Cheers

I just send the renewal application of ead/ap since my current combo card expire in June. I sent them together with forms and pictures as required, no need to pay. I got two receipts of I-797C back. The 180 days extension are based on your renewal receipts, so if your card will expire soon, please send in your renewal application asap. Today I got a letter regarding the ead renewal that they are able to use the fingerprint from their previous record, so I don't need to go to service center for fingerprint. I'll let you know if I got any other updates.

I also plan on renew my AP and EAD card end of April just in case the Green Card will take longer than expected even though I should receive it before my EAD/AP expires. But I don't want to risk anything.

Anyone else here waiting on interview at San Jose, CA office? Processing times say 10mos-29.5mos for family based AOS. I’m guessing 10mos processing time is more for the USC relatives. My spouse and I were hoping to go home on Christmas, and I’m starting to feel like that won’t be happening.. This long wait is starting to get to me, and making me feel overly anxious and hopeless.. 😞

Hi @ladybirdapple

My combo card will be expired at Aug. I am going to renew ead/ap as well. Didn't find enough information at USCIS to renew AP. Did you submit both i767 and i131 at one package? Any support document/picture need to submit for renew?

Thanks a lot!

how do you find your Field Office or Service Center? I submit application at LA. The case status is still showing "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" and "National Benefits Center location is working on your case".

You can go to this link and put the zip code of your residence in the box to find the field office serving your area.
