Timeline

Hi! Does anybody know how long it would take to have a ss#????I heard from someone that sometimes it might take few months??is it true???

Adjustment of Status

Date Filed : 2007-02-14

NOA Date : 2007-02-20

Interview Date : 2007-05-07

Greencard Received: 2007-05-11

Comments : I wasn't ascheduled for biometrics for some reasons. So we got an appointment wiht uscis thru infopass to report it, right that time they took my biometrics.

When you enter at your POE, it could take a couple of weeks to get into the SS system. We opted to wait until my wife applied for AOS so we wouldn't have to go back and get her name changed on the card.

We had the card in hand 1 week after visiting the SSA office. Wait at least 2 weeks after entering the country to allow USCIS to update the system about entering the country and then apply for the number.

We waited until about a week after marriage to file for SSN so that the name on the card would be in married name, some SSA offices may give a hassle about issueing the number to a K-1, just print out the pages suggested in the guides.
