So I got my case sent up the chain and am confused about the email I got and was wondering if anyone can give me a hand with explaining this. Let me start off by saying that we did not in any way ask for our case to be expedited.

The U.S. Embassy in MONTREAL, CAN approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your petition to this U.S. Embassy for their action. The Embassy will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

That’s standard for K1. Every K1 is expedited when it gets to the embassy. Be happy you don’t have to wait a million years.

Since when? I have never seen a K1 "expedited" when it gets to the embassy. Expedited means you sent in an application to have it processed quicker. When your application is approved it is sent to NVC which then sends it off to the embassy.

Yes it does. I received the exact same email and called the embassy to find out what it was about and they said that K1s are always expedited processing when they reach the embassy to have it ready for interview quicker. So instead of taking forever to be ready they do it faster so that people can schedule medical and interview. That’s all.
