Of course your case is considered received by USCIS.

You should contact your congressperson to inquire on your behalf.

I already contacted, let’s see what they gonna say.

Yesterday my lawyer did an infopass and the IO said that my case still under review.

I think I will not get the green card. Maybe my ex-husband did something or called to immigration, trying to affect me.

Im so sad!

It seems that you suffered abuse. To prove bonafide marriage ask your mom or any sibling to write an affidavit regarding bonafide marriage,if they don’t speak English they can write in your native language and someone can  translate, but not you. Most sham marriages families don’t even know if their siblings or sons are married. I had cases that people asked my help and told me their families didn’t know about the marriage and of course I didn’t help them.

hey @sandranj I tried to DM you about this but it seems like your inbox is full. I had a question about this topic regarding same sex marriages and conservative and very homophobic parents. My sibling knows about the marriage but my parents do not because they would turn against me and my father would even turn violent himself if he knew. On top of all that my ex used threats to “out” me to my parents as a way to keep control over me. Does USCIS know about the dynamics in gay relationships and that people are not always “out” to their entire family given they’re from a different cultural background where it would never be accepted?

thank you for your help.

What do you think are the new proposed changes to the VAWA 2018 re-authorization?

Also, many abusers assert their control on victims by refusing to file or withdrawing immigration papers and claiming it was a sham marriage and yet in reality it was not. Does USCIS accept information from abusers?

No, USCIS does not take what the abusers say into consideration for VAWA cases.

@Sandra, i have a picture of myself,my wife and my mother in-law on our wedding day. My younger brother wrote a letter  from Ghana about what i have told him about the abuse and he wrote that we fell in love to each other and got married . My brother and my mother sent us congratulatory card on our wedding day.

Has anyone experienced immigration coming to ask them question after a year of filing VAWA?

Two Immigration Officers came to my house yesterday though my brother told them I was not in the house just to be on the safe side. They left their card and asked that I call them. I called them today and the officer was like he wants to clarify some information with me and that he is willing to meet with me at any location of my chosen. I asked that we meet at my lawyers place. I am confused as to why they would want to meet me. Anyone experienced thesame?

yes, they came to my house 7 months after I filed my VAWA and asked me about my prevuies addresses, they were nice but knocked on the door very hard to a point where I got scared! I thought it was my husband coming after me!!

when I posted my experience here everyone told me that it never happened to them but one lady told me that she had the same experience she lives in New York and her VAWA was approved 2 months after the officers visited her!
