Hello everyone/Sandra.

i will first say this forum has been of a great help even though am a silent reader.

i have a few questions and will gladly appreciate  your reply and answers.

i have a prime facie for a year duration.

i want to go back to school and at the same time apply for financial aid.

my question is that with this document,is it possible to go back to school and apply for financial aid with the prime facie.

thanks

Surprisingly today earlier I search on the web if I could also apply for financial aid. Nursing school is very expensive for me, and I haven’t got an ead yet. So, in the fafsa website, if you go. You can type “eligible non citizens that can apply for fafsa” and Vawa petitioners with vawa approved or with a prima facie determination, can apply for fafsa, you would need to go to your school and apply and tell them you are a vawa self petioner with prima facie, and show them your notice of action of your uscis forms and prima facie, along with your completed fafsa application. Your prima facie must be current and not expired :) you would need to give them your alien usics number which serves for such benefits, you can find it in your prima facie letter.

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if it would be beneficial if it can be proved that the abuser has a mental illness, I mean, help if he can prove that the abuser has a mental illness?
It is important to clarify that patients with this mental illness tend to be aggressive and conflicting among other things.
Thank you all for your comments!

Can someone help me please give your opinion?

I can actually answer this question extremely well because I've been working with the Dept of Education in a Washington DC since March on this very subject!

You can use your Prima Facie to apply for FAFSA, however, there is a catch. You must have a valid Social Security number or the FAFSA will not go through.  The person who wrote the policy for VAWA and FAFSA even signed a letter for me to present at the Social Security Administration to try and get a "not valid for work" SSN while waiting for my EAD to arrive, but they said the letter was not strong enough even though it came straight from Washington DC.

So, unless you have a Social security number, you won't be able to get FAFSA until you do.

Thanks so much for the clarification.

luckly enough I have a SSN I got back while in school when I first come to the US with a F1.

Hope applying for FAFSA does not affect my application in any way?

Not at all, being VAWA you are exempt from the public benefits requirement. You are allowed to use public and federal aid, it doesn't make you a public charge when you do your Adjustment of Status.

So go for it! Apply for that FAFSA!

If I make ask,  did you go with an attorney and what questions did the officer asked you?

Thanks

If the IO was not a supervisor, this is quite normal. It just means that he has to show your case to his supervisor for them to approve it.

Hello!

And thank you for replies. Yes, my attorney was with me and I had also interpreter. It was in Los Angeles.

She went through the I-360 form: why did you married him, what did you like about him, when did you see him last time, than when did you arrived to US  and other Qs about my identification. The interview went ok. And the end of the interview she said, "I have some notice from other officer here and I have to review it. And gave us Notice of Interview Results. And when we left her office she said, "If you will not receive any letter from me in 2 weeks, it means everything is ok and also said, "Learn English because after 3 years you are gonna apply for a citizenship and you need to know English very well." I said, "I'll go to college."

Hello everyone😃

I just checked my case status online and got this message!!! This is the first update since the initial “fees were waved” message from March 2017 💕 I just received my EAD c9 last month in June 2018, I’m wondering if this is a new EAD with category c31 or GC but either way I’m thrilled and I hope everyone gets their good news soon as well!!!!!
