So how long does it usually take to get case number from NvC and also does anyone have any idea how long before the interview date can we get the medical? Is there any limit like 30,45 or 60 days kinda thing before interview or no limitation? In short, can we get medical while we hear from nvc and also would the consulate email us the package with things to do or is it all going to be paper mail?

I know, I already did. Last time, before leaving I made him 5oz of ragù (bolognese sauce) for him to keep. We sealed everything in Mason jars and he's still eating it. I guess he's definitely a lucky fiance! 🤣🤣🤣

i think it depends on how lucky you are on this part!

there are some people that got their nvc case # in 13 days (in the nvc march forum), others wait since 3-4 weeks. 

some are lucky that the case arrives and someone assigns a number the same day. others, wait another 1-2 weeks.

 

also, usually they send the pile of yours to the embassy in within a day once the case number is assigned...

the process from there depends on the country, embassy etc. so you'd have to check with people that are experienced with your embassy to give more inputs.

 

i found a few swiss and they all said medical and embassy is technically possible in within 2 weeks after embassy gets the info!

so hoping that 3-4 weeks is realistic at this stage for us.

We got our NOA2 today!!! 

 

NOA 1 date: Sept 25, 2017

NOA 2 date: Mar 27, 2018

 

Can't believe it! Just refreshed the app and it showed we're approved! I checked earlier today and it wasn't updated yet.  

 

Next step, the U.S. embassy in London! Anyone have any recommendations for the interview? I'm preparing an I-134.

One of the downsides to the K1 visa is that the beneficiary must file for adjustment of status after marrying the petitioner. There are 3 aspects to the AOS process, the I-485 (this is essentially the application for the conditional green card), the I-131 (Advanced Parole/AP) and the I-765 (Employment Authorization/EAD). 

 

The beneficiary cannot leave the USA (well they could leave, but would be unable to re-enter the USA) until they have either the green card on hand (this process takes anywhere from 4-12+ months depending on your local office) OR the Advanced Parole document (current processing times are around 3-5 months).  

The EAD processing times are also around 3-5 months. If you apply for AP/EAD at the same time, you usually receive a "combo card" that serves as both AP and EAD in one document. The beneficiary cannot legally work in the USA until either the green card or EAD is in hand. 

 

The total cost to file the AOS documents is currently $1225, and it's one of the things that I advise everyone to start saving up or planning for once they get the K1 NOA2 approval.

The AP normally takes the same amount of time to get as the EAD. I’m going back to my country in one week. I thought I could go back with my NOA2 and NVC number, because we thought they were working faster than the other months. Now, 202 days later I’m packing up and it’s crazy that we don’t have anything so far. 

Congratulation to every single one of you that got the noa2 and are closer to be with your loved ones. You all deserve to be happy and excited for this journey that is about to end.

Yay! Seems like lots of approvals for Septemberries today! One of those is ours. Received e-mail, double checked (😎👀) the website.. and yes, that’s true! We’ve got approved. It feels so good, guys! Wish you all to feel it ASAP. Right now I don’t even care about how long it takes with NVC, the Embassy or whatever else we need to wait for. We have got approved!🎉🎉🎉
