Thank you!! No I haven’t applied for N-400 yet, I travel a lot so really wanted that 10 year GC in case the citizenship process kept on dragging out. But now with the GCs having the wrong info on them I might have to get used to travelling with the stamp, we’ll see. Will start my N-400 asap though. 

 

Were you you also transferred to Texas Service Center?

You are more than welcome! I always thought filling the N-400 would speed the process. As we all can see, that is not the case, at least, at this time.

 

I still have to stamp my passport. I will have to travel very soon. It will be my first time traveling just with the stamp.

 

I had an InfoPass in March 12, same day I had my N-400 biometrics done. I was trying to get my passport stamped but was too early for that, so the IO refused to do so.

 

I got the same updates other fillers had (the majority). That my case was transferred to a local office. I asked the IO about this and she told me my case was transferred from one floor to another in CSC. She also said I will have a combo interview for sure and when I go back to stamp my passport she will keep my GC. It was disappointing because I will lose my expired GC and probably will never see “the color” of the new one lol...

 

Anyway, I still have some hope that the card comes in the mail before I travel back.

You will be transferred to NBC as @Derwood was. The IO was correct it will probably be a joint interview. @Derwood  applied in the latter part of Feb and has just had their interview date, unfortunately that will have to rescheduled as they are away.  I think the N400 can speed things up dependent on your local office processing times, it kind of forces them to send your file to NBC to put you inline for an interview. The only thing that seems to make people wait a tad longer are the local field office times. I

 

am not sure whether or not your ROC file follows your N400 file to NBC. As I have seen posts talking about interviews where the IO was unaware that the person had an outstanding ROC, whether they see this online or the file is in front of them, then I am not sure.  Apparently the security checks for N400 take up to 30 days or the FBI want 98 percent applications to pass security checks before 30 days, then you go inline. You can't see the inline notice on the new N400 system, but you can sort of see it on the old, where they say we have scheduled your interview, but there is no interview notice. You get that interview notice when your case becomes a priority date, which is dependent again on your local office processing times. I hope I haven't confused you, I confuse myself most of the time. Lol

I am avoiding going to the website to check my case because it causes me anxiety!

Same thing happened to Derwood, went from 6 months, to 8 months then nearly a year. He applied in February his anniversary would be the 19th of May (if memory serves me correctly). A joint filer and then on Friday his interview date came through, might have been Thursday. LOL. Don't worry your time is near, its the people stuck in places like Texas, Florida and Minnesota that seem to have vast waiting lines. However, I do feel that applying for a joint filing does cause some movement.

You meant your extension letter, right? Your GC should have expired a year ago.

As far as I know, it doesn’t have to be before it expires, you just won’t have a way to prove your status in case you need to do so. I’m going tomorrow to my local office (San Jose, CA) to get a stamp just in case (my GC extension letter expires next week).

Your letter may expire soon (it expires a year after your GC expiration date) but, as far as I know, your remain a LPR until the adjunction of your case.

Hi, it depends on the field office or the IO. Some officers might keep the GC and give you the extension stamp or they might just look at your GC and give it back to you. It normally takes around 10 to 20 minutes or less.

They go by the expiration on GC which is extended for 1 year by the extension letter.  The extension letter extends the GC to 1 year from the date of 2-year expiration.  GC expiration doesn't matter you can go there any time as long as you scheduled an infopass. In case of emergency, you don't even need an infopass appointment.
