I think I remember you saying you received your GC around St Patty's Day. It would be awesome if your oath ceremony came around July 4th as well haha

I think it will be that date if they have a ceremony on that date.  Be quite apt to become a citizen then, couldn't get more patriotic than that. :)

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.

That would be good and then you can share it with us.    As far as N400 its dependent on your office, however, if you apply online it takes around a few days before you get your biometrics appointment, they are normally around 3 weeks later.  Interviews are dependent on your field office and the date on your conditional GC.  For example I applied on 28th Feb, about three days later I received my biometric letter. I had my bio metric appointment on the 22nd of March. I am expecting to receive my appointment letter around the 26th April, a month before my 3 year anniversary on my conditional GC. I expect my interview will be sometime in June as my office is at 5 months processing times, so pretty quick hopefully for me. I wouldn't be surprised if my Naturalisation ceremony is around July 4th.

My local office is Dallas, Tx. The estimated time processing is 15 -20.5 months. That is weird. isn't it?

Everything about the USCIS processes are weird. I wouldn't take much notice of their dates as I have seen people getting interviews after a couple of months when they are told there is a 19 month wait.  Nothing is what it seems at the USCIS, its like being in the Twilight Zone. :(

Indeed! haha

Just remember to do a few things after you become a citizen:

Get your US passport (Get it directly with the Department of State. The post office takes too long and they never returned my wife original birth certificate) Oh and get a passport card too.

Update your records with the Social Security

Update your records with the DMV

Then you're all set. I might be forgetting something but if anyone knows if there's anything else that needs to be done.

Oh so you need to update with Social Security? Interesting, dont have a driving licence, but do have a state id and of course the voting thing that's a must.  Thanks for the list. :)

Yes. It doesn't get updated automatically. Otherwise they will always have a record that you're still a permanent resident. It's important because that has to do with your retirement in the future. And other government agencies use info from the Social Security to check your status as a citizen.

When you say get it directly from the Department of State, what do you mean? Doesn't the post office send it to the same place?

 Strange things are happening to USCIS. I tried to check my case status with case tracker app and with Uscis website and both are showing errors for all my cases: i751, CRI and n400...  another glitch/update? Or they just threw away all my forms?:jest:

and another weird thing is that I got a notification from case tracker that they received my i751 case but it was dated March 5th (I already saw that transfer of my case last month). Something is going on...

Hey everyone. What a wild weekend. Hubby and I were at an anime convention. I had his passport with his stamp in inside my bag as we walked around since he legally needs to have it with him at all times and since my husband doesn't have a purse or a man purse I carry it in my bag. When he goes to work he takes it in a backpack. So anyway we were reading some bus schedules in a booth and it wasn't till we were back in the hotel that we realized it was missing. We went back to the bus stop booth and it was gone. I went into panic mode because his passport was in there and because he has his biometrics coming up on Thursday and would need to show that stamp since that's his GC now. We checked lost and found and it was not there too. Right when we were about to give up I said why don't we check the hotel across the street? So we did and the man at the desk said yes someone turned it in. I was so relieved. Passport still inside! My wallet with credit cards and cash was still there as well. After this exciting event I decided to buy Tiles and put one in a zippered pouch where my husbands passport is in. Peace of mind now.

You need to keep that passport so secure, you have no idea how bad it is too lose one. I had this problem for 4 weeks until recently finding it. You have to have a counter signatory on the photos to apply, but it's near impossible to get the right size photos. The counter signatory would have to be someone who is professional and who your husband has known for at least two years as a friend, neighbour or acquaintance, then you would have to have a photocopy of their passport page. It is one HUGE headache and I am SO glad you found it, I wouldn't want you to go through the sheer panic I went through the past month, not too mention you probably will need that passport for the interview too.
