I take that back we don't have any photos from our wedding. I lost them when my old phone got ran over. They may have been in the AOS packet but I doubt it. Hopefully not having that doesn't fail our ROC.

Hey,

I don’t think that that would be solely reason why they would deny your ROC but it varies case by case. If you don’t have anything related to the wedding besides the marriage certificate, make sure you have other documents such as bills together, bank statements (in case you guys have accounts together) and other documents that can prove your life together and so on.

I brought a bunch of documents such as tax returns (3 past years), photos, bank statements, letter from my friends and her friends talking about our relationship (letters got notarized), bills, health insurance bill with both of our names, dental insurance bill, car insurance and so on.

I’d say, just collect as much evidence as you can to take with you for your interview.

They have all that in our ROC packet but I've continously been collecting the same bills afterwards too. And other docs. And we've filed all our tax returns joint. His interview letter however does not say to bring those things.

Well, the interview notice is for the N400 but if you still have the ROC pending that will have to be finalized before they can move to the N400 application so you might as well bring all the docuements that you have.

Although I had already sent all the docs with the ROC I still took them with me and more. The officer asked if they could keep the ones I brought for the interview and we said yes, of course.

Hopefully our collection of docs will make up for not having wedding pictures. Like I said our wedding was super small in a court room with 3 people. Hopefully it doesn't raise red flags that we don't have wedding photos.

UPDATE!  We had our combo interview last week.

I went with my husband and 10 month old but they stayed in the waiting room.  The officer was super friendly.  We did the language (oral and written) test and he asked me 6 questions.  I had them all correct so he didn't ask anymore.

He said he couldn't approve me on the spot because of my ROC/Naturalization case.  But towards the end of the interview he did tell me that I was in line for the oath ceremony.  We just got our text/email notification that I'm in line and just awaiting the letter with the official date.

Hoping it all goes quickly from here on out for everyone else!

Our income tax statement was all that he asked for from us.  He didn't ask about pictures or anything. He actually said the income tax statement and our childs birth certificate was all that he needed.  I had a very pleasant officer though.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Now I know it depends on officer. So you didn't have two separate interviews? And your spouse didn't need to go in at all?

We are in Minnesota so his interview is in Minneapolis. It seems a lot of people who had interviews there recently with pending ROCs the US citizen spouse isn't even invited into the interview. However I have still taken the day off work in case and will be there in the waiting room. One person said they didn't even ask to look at any additional evidence at all and that ROC was more of a afterthought. I guess every office has different procedures.

Not only that but I’d say that it’s a case by case situation. Depends on many other factors such as documents sent with the application and your file itself. I did not interview in Minnesota but still, I think it also depends on your file and you’re application.

I personally think that you should go with your spouse because as you guys have the I-751 pending, they may want to ask you guys questions regarding your marriage and stuff like that and for that you’d need to be there. I read in a different forum that a N400 applicant who had a I-751 pending went to the interview without his spouse and the interview had to be re-scheduled.

Also, I follow the “ San Jose 2018 N400” (link down below - her post is on the last page)

applicants forum and one member just posted that she went for the interview, with her husband (N400 with ROC pending) and the officer said that they wouldn’t be able to interview her because the notice was for the N400 and as she still had the I-751 pending, she would have to wait for that case to be finalized before they can proceed any further with the I-751. After that, she just went home without getting an interview and now she’s waiting for another notice that explains better why they couldn’t interview her.

What I wrote above did not happen to me, I already posted my story here and had my N400 and ROC approved at the same time right after my interview but I though it was worth mentioning what happened to that member as this is a community so we might as well share experiences.

No - I just had the one interview.  They had both my N400 & ROC files with them.  Like a PP said, they do have to 'approve' your ROC before N400, so depending on the officer and workload, some can approve on the spot and some don't.  Mine said in the beginning he couldn't tell me on the spot but at the end, he said he recommended me for approval and then told me I'm in line for the Oath Ceremony and expect a letter.

My husband and my 10 month old did come along for the interview.  We saw another couple with a young child come out together (not sure if it's different if it's AOS.  There were a lot of AOS cases at our location).  But my officer said they didn't need to come (my 10 month old was recovering from a stomach bug and was getting a bit fussy too).

Yesterday I called customer service for the first time. Spoke to tier 1 officer first. She was no help for me. What she told me was my status online that I can get myself. She made some assumptions why my case is pending but they were no more than just guesses. I asked to transfer me to tier 2 officer. She switched me right away. That lady provided more info but it was confusing. She told me that my case is in Brooklyn office. It didn't make sense. I asked when it was transfer. She said in february last year. She was probably referring to those glitch updates because my case was transferred to NBC in May therefore couldn't be in Brooklyn in February. She couldn't clarify it but mentioned that respond for my second request was made from Brooklyn office. I don't even think that Brooklyn location takes care of ROC applications because interviews are conducted in New York York office.

That officer made me more confused on what's happening with my case. I hope she was right because it would mean that I'm only one step away from my interview.
