129F Primary Evidence of Meeting

When my fiancee was here in the US in August, I had introduced her to my parents, brother, close friends, and my supervisors. I am considering requesting from them a letter stating that they had both observed my fiancee and myself, together.

Has anyone else considered submitting this as evidence and done so? Is there a reason I should not?

Your better off using:

1. Scans of the Passport stamps, coming and going

2. Ticket Stubs

3. Photos showing you both together at a recognizable landmark, photos with family members are a definite plus

Make sure you date and write on the back where the photos were taken.

Thanks for the responses. If that is indeed true that I cannot use such statements from others who had seen my finacee and myself together, then it seems a bit inconsistent with logic. Consider that passport port stamps only show that a border was crossed. I could have crossed just to get some of that great unpasturized Canadian cheese. Ticket stubs just show that a seat was purchased. It doesn't prove I boarded the plane or bus. Aren't statements of others used as evidence for removing conditions on permant residence status?

Everything you say is true as far as not being primary evidence, but I have to say that it's a good idea to do so... my attorney sent five (5) sworn (notarized) statements by relatives and friends that know about our relationship.

If an attorney did/suggested it... must be a good idea!

Good luck!!! ;)

Are you filing a K1?

Passport stamps prove you went to Canada. Boarding passes can be researched to see if you were on the manifest if necessary. As do pics of the two of you in front of landmarks or with family. True, they only 'prove' you crossed the border, or didn't. Why are you fighting it? It's part of a complete picture presented to USCIS. The guides here have worked for 1000s on VJ & will continue to do so for 1000s more.

Lifting conditions is a long way off....and not relevant either.

Here's text from an RFE received for lack of evidence for th I-129F. It might be useful. Check the RFE thread pinned in this forum for more common pitfalls:

"The petitioner and the beneficiary must have met in person between [X DATE] and [X DATE]. Submit evidence of meeting the meneficiary in person within the two-year period preceding the filing of the petiition. The primary evidence may include airline ticket stubs and receipts (that indicate month, day, and year), copies of passport pages taht show the identification page and admission stamps, military order(s), letter from Commanding Officer, or any evidence that will help the USCIS to determine that the petitioner has met the beneficiary within the two years. The secondary evidence may be film dated photographs of the petitioner and the beneficiary together. The following DOES NOT constitue evidence of meeting: disc, videos, emails, letters, phone bills, and greeting cards."

I included some greeting cards congratulating us on our engagement, but that was before I found VJ. If I did it over again, I probably could've safely left those out. But for the meaty part - the proof of meeting w/in 2 years, it was all boarding passes, passport pages, a few photos (too many, now that I found VJ), and receipts. I know now I had some superfluous stuff in there too. Don't think it hurts (though you don't want to send a box full of stuff, that's just excessive). But I definitely fretted more than I needed to.
