Question about n400 and traffic accident

Hello everyone, I am currently awaiting my N400 interview. since I have never had any traffic tickets or anything like that I have not had to include any of that in my application. yesterday as I was driving home from work some guy rolled into my car at a red light (his foot slipped off his brake) since it was a truck it cracked my bumper so we called the police to write a report. Obviously, since it was not my fault I was not ticketed or anything like that but the other driver was. he has a court date for that ticket and the police officer said that if I do not want him to get a ticket I don't have to show up for the court date (his ticket will be dismissed) that is currently my plan unless my insurance company asks me to go to complete my claim.

my question is: since this technically is a court date, do I have to tell my interviewing officer about this when I go for my interview? what if I end up not going to the court date since I do not have to if I do not want to. if I don't go should I still bring it up at my interview? thanks, everyone!

because you were not the at fault, it will not end up hurting you, if you are asked have you ever had to go to court always always be honest, explain the situation. you will not be named in the other drivers court appearance.

No you don't have to, since you were not the one ticketed or cited.  It will not affect the adjudication of your N400 in any way.  Neither will you being part of a court case where someone else (whom you don't even know) was cited/ticketed affect it either.

(The IO is not going to ask if you've ever been to court either, btw, unless you yourself was ever ticketed/cited/arrested in the past).

No - you are going in as a witness in this case (or the complainant) and not a defendant, so there is no issue there...  Should not be a question at all, and if there is anything that comes up, you can tell them what happened.  Then again, even traffic tickets below a certain threshold have no bearing on the case generally...
