Does the supporting letter have to be done by US citizen or permanent residence? I have some good friend who is on H1-B status. Can I ask her to write a letter for us?

Thanks.

Sorry, but she does not have a GC yet. Would it be ok for her to write letter for us?

Should be fine, the letters are just from close friends and realitives, can be any one, they should provide a way for someone at USCIS to contact them to confirm, a PH number should do.

Note that the instructions do not suggest "letters" as proof -- they suggest affidavits, which are definitely not the simple letters you folks are talking about here. I'm not saying you can't send letters -- you can send whatever floats your boat, vacation snapshots or receipts for two-entree meals at Panda Express -- but if you're looking to send what the instructions suggest, you should send a bona fide notarized affidavit.

It ain't an affidavit if it ain't notarized.

Last week, I uploaded a sample affidavit suitable for use with an I-751 petition. Just change the name of the affiant and whatever else needs to be changed to suit your petition: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ost&id=3799

Anybody -- citizen, LPR, whomever -- can execute an affidavit as long as they are 18 years or older.

Meh

The pleasure is mine. :) Note that, as YuAndDan mentioned, your friend should indicate his or her address and telephone number, probably in the second sentence: "My name is Buddy O'Mine. I reside at 123 Main Street, Anytown, USA 123456. My telephone number is (123) 123-4567."
