Hi Guys,

I've received a I-797C Notice of Transfer in the mail today. The transfer is dated 03/07/2018 and the address on the envelope was the California Service Center. The notice of transfer states the following:

"We have completed a preliminary review of the application or petition (("your case") listed above. As part of standard processing, we transferred your case to the USCIS office listed below that has jurisdiction for your case. That office will notify you in writing when they make a decision on your case or if they need additional information:

NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER, P{O BOX 648005, Lee's Summit, MP 64064".

Here's a reminder on my case, which is a regular, non-military, non-waiver ROC:

Applied I-751 to CSC. NOA1 February 21, 2017

Biometrics in March 2017 and then nothing until last week.

Applied N-400 online on February 18, 2018.

N-400 NOA1 February 18, 2018

My biometrics appointment is tomorrow (March 13, 2018)

February 25, 2018: I-751 receipt number mysteriously 'activates' with 'We received your case'

February 26, 2018: 'We received your case'

March 5, 2018: 'We received your case' although that update has disappeared out of the history.

March 7, 2018 around 1pm:  I got bombarded with 10 text messages and 1 email saying they had updated my case (I-751 number). My case status changes to:

my_logo.png

Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction

On March 8, 2018, we transferred your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC17XXX, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by April 7, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addre

When I call the automated case checker line it says it's been transferred to CSC????:"

On March 8, 2018 I get another update but it's the same thing.

Anyway, looks like my case is on it's way to the NBC,  and I suspect after that it'll be transferring to my local office. I'm guessing this is for a combo I-751/N-400 interview?

I have a Mis-Infopass tomorrow, so I'll ask and report back.

  • 1 month later...

hello I got this too. I filed for my N-400 on April 1st and then I got a bunch of updates. It looks like my case was first transferred to NBC on April 6th for which I got a transfer notice today in the mail. looking online it looks like there was another transfer on the 10th (from NBC to local office?). What happened with you on the second transfer? Any updates?

It looks like this might be the new way of handling I-751 and N-400 combos.

I filed my I-751 with CSC in mid April 2017 and as expected with CSC there was no activity since... until I filed the N-400 in early April, that's when they sent this same transfer notice within a week (same transfer of the I-751 to NBC.)

Also, I noticed that the appointment letter for my N-400 biometrics (for next week) shows NBC on it so they must be handling both there.

Personally, I'd prefer if they can adjudicate the I-751 first since the NOA1 expires at the end of June for me and the estimated processing time for the N-400 is over a year away. But that might be wishful thinking with the backlogs from CSC right now.

I'll try to update too if there are any other notices after this...

  • 2 weeks later...

I received an RFE and now 3 weeks after they received it my status was also updated to Case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction.

Could it be it is a way if telling they picked up the case once more and are reviewing the RFE info.

My case status updated to On May 1, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC××××××××× at your local office. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address..

Note that it says local office and not" another USCIS office". Perplexed!!!!🤔

I think “received” actually means nothing as I haven’t seen any reports where a physical letter comes in a mail to confirm it. However “transferred” usually follows by letter in a mail so it’s a legit update.

However there is a plenty cases who have not filled n 400 and got it transferred as well, so Idk :/

Today received the letter my case is also transferred to the NBC. But mine is not a combo, I filed in October 2016 for a I-751.

The other message of transferring the case to your local office just means they took your file out of a dusty room and started processing it. But at least things got going again.

Same thing happened to me. I filed Sep 2016, and got the transfer letter 3 weeks ago. No updates yet. Don't plan on filing a N-400 either.

I received the same letter in mail yesterday. So it doesn't mean anything about the N-400 cases, when there are some filers got it too without an N-400 case.

I-485 (AOS)

04/01/2015 Sent Form I-485.

05/06/2015 Scheduled the interview and mailed its notice.

06/16/2015 The Post Office picked up mail containing the new card.

06/16/2015 The 2 years Green Card was mailed to me.

06/18/2015 The 2 years Green Card in hand.

I-751 (ROC)

03/13/2017 Sent I-751 documents to CSC.

03/14/2017 Package received.

03/16/2017 Check cashed.

03/??/2017  NOA received.

03/14/2017 NOA dated.

03/27/2017 Biometrics. "walked-in"

02/26/2018 Case transferred to my local office.

05/01/2018 Case transferred to another office.

05/03/2018 Case transferred to another office.

05/07/2018 Received letter in mail, my case was transferred to NBC. "Letter's date is 05/01/2018"

06/05/2018 Received letter in mail, they will do an interview at the same time, date and location of my N-400 interview. "06/21/2018"

06/21/2018 The combo interview (with N-400 interview). But it's still pending until they send me the result of this interview.

06/27/2018 The case was approved, with the N-400 approval.

06/30/2018 Received the approval letter in mail.

N-400 (Under 3 Years Rule)

04/02/2018 Applied for N-400 Online. (I-751 is still pending)

04/02/2018 Received NOA Online (Received in mail on 4/03/18).

04/27/2018 Biometrics.

05/14/2018 Scheduled the N-400 interview.

06/21/2018 Interview's date.

Passed the English test and the U.S. history and government test.

But: A decision cannot be made yet about my application. The reason is my pending I-751 file!

06/27/2018 The case was approved (with the I-751 approval), and placed me in line for oath ceremony.

07/09/2018 Oath Ceremony was scheduled.

07/20/2018 Oath Ceremony.

U.S. Citizen and proud!

I am in a somewhat similar position.

Applied for I-751 in July 2016

Applied for N-400 in July 2017

Fingerprints in August 2017 (for N-400)

Case in line for interview since August 2017

There has been ZERO movement on my I-751 (at CSC), then at the beginning of this year (Feb 25th), got a "we received your case" notification and then today, got a "We transferred your case" notification.

Can anybody provide me some insight? Anxious to have my N-400 go through. So I'm hoping this means something good for both cases.

I got the same update , and I haven’t filed for n400 ...

Did yours say transferred  to "another" office or "local" office? I've seen a few posts with people saying it said local office for them.

I'm hoping that it got transferred to the NBC, so they can schedule a combo interview. Fingers crossed!

Mine says transferred to "another" office and got the letter saying to NBC.

I know it depends on case bases but does anyone know on average how long does it take once the file is sent to NBC?
