A Mexican man charged with vehicular homicide was released from the Denver city jail even though U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had filed a hold on him believing he entered the U.S. illegally.

Ivan Zamarripa-Castaneda, 26, of Mexico was released Saturday, less than two hours after Denver authorities notified ICE that it would release him on bond, according to Carl Rusnok, ICE spokesman.

“As law enforcement professionals, we should all have the same ultimate goal in mind — to protect the public by combating criminals,” Rusnok wrote in a news release. “ICE helps fulfill that role by removing criminal aliens from the streets, and from the United States. Zamarripa-Castaneda is currently an immigration fugitive.”

Denver jail officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Sadly not uncommon in Denver.

Castaneda has been formally charged with vehicular homicide, DUI and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Saw this story and was understandably outraged.  I guess the safety of other CO residents is not a top priority.  Anyone taking bets on him showing up for his court date?

I assume he was funded by his business partners and I doubt he will be heard of again.

Difficult to believe this was not deliberate, Denver has history.

shame all the democratic party has in hopes of being relevant is pandering to illegals and class warfare . Maybe if they took care of working middle class families like the do sanctuary city darlings, they would not have lost the rust belt.

Chances are he's no longer in the denver area. Too bad he has the gigantic tattoo on his neck making him easily recognizable.  (too bad for him... hopefully someone else catches him. )
