Hi there,

My wife is Green card holder and I have applied my I-130 in Feb 2017 and not get my approval letter yet.How long it normally takes to get approval letter and roughly how long the whole process takes to get visa. thanks.

is there a reason you opened another thread?

I am US Citizen and filed for my spouse in Nov. 2016 and I have not gotten my approval yet (It has been one year and a few months already). Your wife is green card holder, I assume that would take longer maybe?

I am really surprised, that you being a USC and still haven't gotten your approval, did you talk to a tier 2 rep? did they say why it is taking soo long? did you start the process first as a LPR? and then got citizenship?

I am sure that you didn't like what you read in your first forum, but your wife being a LPR those cases are taking well over 2 year for full completion. I am sorry that she is preg and needs you but would be best if she goes back to you and stays, or finds a support system in the states.

Yes, I've done so much! I've talked to tier 2 at least twice. I went to infoPass twice. Nothing works!!! What is LPR? No, started the progress and am already a citizen. My lawyer is now filing to ombudsman.

I just wondered as it states adjustment of status pending and that is what you filed for so just wanted to make sure I understood

LPR is a legal permanent resident.

and what does tier 2 say when you call them? next time you call ask them if there are any notes on your case from the adjudicating officer.

they can look deeper into it, I am so sorry your case is taking so long :(

Tier 2 just told me to wait. InfoPass told me that they would contact the officer. the other infoPass told me maybe something triggered during the interview causing the officer not being able to adjust. My lawyer told me it's just an excuse to justify their delay because they don't see much notes? The infoPass lady just showed me the last online inquiry I got, which is just your case is still under review. I don't know. It has been more than 4 and a half months after my interview..I am supposed to get a response within 84 days. (To clarify I am still in the I-130 process). Usually people hear interview and they are confused and thought I am already in the I-485 process.

now I am confused, I am guessing you have done both, I-130 and the adjusting of status, you came here on a K1 or you were already here on a visa, got married and now your adjusting status?

No.. I filed a standalone I-130. My husband was already in the United States when we filed. Got married in the United States and then filed.

since he was already in the states, and you are all married, you would have had to file more than just the I-130, there would have had to be more that was sent in.

If you were both in the sates a stand alone I thought was only used if one was a USC and one was in another country.

We filed standalone because my husband is in removal proceedings.

I am sorry I understand now, these cases take longer because you need to meet a higher burden of proof that the marriage is bona-fide

I wish the process were easier on families :(

I know right. I have so many pictures and so many proofs (including insurance, bank accounts, etc) but still have to wait so long. I feel so disappointed.
