Ignore the ongoing i751 "case moved to local office" glitch and apply for N400?

Hello,

I am just wondering if I should go ahead and apply for citizenship - given the it is unlikely USCIS can give me 10 year green card on time, judging by their current processing time. My concern is that, like many 2016-17 filers, the online system showed a new case received date, and that calling USCIS I learned that my case got transferred to a local office -- does that mean an interview is on its way? In this case, if I submit N400 citizenship application, any confusion I could potentially add to the existing situation? Thank you very much.

If your end goal is US Citizenship, and if you are eligible to file n400, then by all means apply. Plenty have done so!

The only drawback is you will not get the physical new gc.. but wouldn't you rather have the Citizenship Certificate and US passport?

they "wont get the physical new gc" because USCIS will see you filed for N400 and not give you a new (10y) gc?

Or they wont get the new physical gc becaue the N400/citizenship process will conclude before the gc process?

Yep makes sense to file and get it over with asap, if that is the end goal.

@Bill & Katya n400 online or paper version?  If online, what all docs did you guys upload?

Thank you all for the kind reply! We are going to work on the N400 this month!

@Dutchster,  if you go to your USCIS online system, is your "case received date" updated into something more recent? This new date might match the date your case get transferred to local officer, which to my understanding is a normal process - could end up with an interview, or maybe meaning core office is dividing their work load, or something else I don't know. Nonetheless, the case received date should not be changed, and is believed to be a glitch.

I am not in the ROC process yet (~390 day countdown though lol) but I personally know some people who got that same message and we were all kind of figuring out if it was real or a glitch.

Hi All,

I am from California. I applied for ROC in Oct 2018 and then became eligible for Naturalization in Oct 2019. Till then had heard nothing from the ROC and so I just applied N 400. My ROC got transferred to Nashville during this time and I have no ideas whats going on now.

It has been more than a year (close to year and half and no progress on ROC)

If I read and interpreted correctly, if we apply N 400 while ROC is awaited, we do not get a 10 yr GC? Has anyone experienced something similar? Thanks for the feedback and help.
