CFO bad experience

Hello,

My wife just attended CFO GCP seminar and it was a very unpleasant experience for her.

So what happened:

They wanted her 3 years old kid to stay alone in another room during all the seminar

Than her counselor focused on her most of the time even there were 10 another women. She was so strict and complain about almost everything even about things which are not her business like why she didnt change her name after marriage and kept her maiden name. It was a huge problem for a counselor.

It seems also that the main purpose of this seminar is to scary people who are attending it because she was still talking she had a case of home violence in my country so it will happen to her also, she will have to do all I will say and can beat her like in her previous case. Counselor also adviced her to let her daughter in Philippines and bring her 10 years from now once she will be 13 because if not I will do so terrible things to my step daughter. It can happen only in Philippines that they will recommend to a mother to leave her kid. Its even more weird if you compare numbers of abusing women and kids or human trafficking in Philippines and west countries.

She had also a tons of new requirements which are not stated anywhere on the CFO website like

-certified copy of our marriage licence and all documents we used for application. So she need to travel to another island and get it from Local civil registrar in her hometown. Tell me a single reason why does the counselor need it and how it will prevent violence on my wife. And she had originals of that documents with her except a parental consent.

- list of my filipino friends in my country with their phone numbers. But I dont have any. So thats our main concern now if we should tell it I dont have or make some fake or what. There are no filipinos in my area.

So Id like to know your opinion if they can by their law reject her and dont give her a sticker for just one missing requirement like no friends in a new country or no screenshots of first chat on dating sites.

So she was not approved initially at the seminar and you were told to get more documents to bring back? Yes, by Philippine law they can and will reject you for missing the requirements needed for them to sign off on her paperwork.

This is my biggest issue with this program because it seems like they do everything they can to scare away people from immigrating abroad, like they are mad that they can't go. I agree this program does have good points to it if it is done correctly. But we have seen countless times on here where they will single out one woman of the group like a timid person and just go after them the whole time in hopes of them caving in to pressure. They wanted my divorce decree as well when my then fiancé now wife went through the seminar in 2012.

I would not leave her daughter there in the Philippines for 10 years that is just crazy thinking about that at all. Your asawa is not a OFW she is a immigrant to the USA, so she should bring her child here to live. Just be glad this is not Prism because those horror stories are even worse than your asawa's.

Yes they can refuse to issue the certificate so she can't get the sticker in her passport.  Never heard of this happening, but I have heard of many that because the "focus" ...  Is your wife a quiet or timid person?  Those draw the most attention from CFO.

You are the 2nd within the past couple weeks to post a rant about CFO .. they had been quiet for some time.    Never know what will draw the "sharks" with CFO .. they smell blood they start circling.

And all the extra documents they ask for are covered under the "other documents" clause.

I’m guessing they have a big issue with this kind of stuff and that’s why they do it. Not to scare away the ones who are in a real relationship and doing this for the right reason. I don’t see any issue with anything they did. They’re just being cautious. You didn’t bring all the documents requested they were absolutely right to reject her. You either have everything they ask and you get approved or you’re missing stuff and you don’t. Also, I agree with asking to leave the kid in a separate room. Kids just get in the middle of things and distract people or get in the way and make trouble. They were right to ask. Everyone does that. It’s no big deal. Just do what you were told to do and move on to the next step. I guarantee you you weren’t singled out for any reason other than the fact that you didn’t have what they asked for.

The issue is that a lot of times they request documents from the individual that are not in the required documents list on the website. So yes it is a big deal especially if you have to come from another island just to attend the seminar then it is a big deal.

Its okay to be cautious but how will a copy of our marriage licence and documents needed to apply for marriage licence help to decide if its real relationship or not. It doesnt make any sence. They should also put it in requirements on their website if that so because people are going there from entire Philippines so its difficult and expensive to travel back to your hometown to get it.

We were singled out because my wife is young and me too. So they think I want to sell her in my place.

Trust me the majority of us who commented to you OP understand this issue because have had to deal with the Philippines and CFO before. My asawa had to luckily only travel from Davao to Cebu for the CFO. This is all part of the "Other documents may be required" which usually end up tripping people because they ask for something that you don't have and did not know that you would need.

Her experience is not an isolated case. We have seen this before. What causes this is a woman may show signs of weakness such as no eye contact. Hesitating when answering questions, unsure of herself or not having the answers to her questions. Inc a examiner finds this she will attack like a shark.

I would recommend that she go to another CFO office as they seem to be a little more accomadating. We have had no reports of this at the Cebu office.

I agree with Greenbaum on this one as well. What office did she go to Cebu, Manila, or Clark? If she went to Manila then you might want to shell out the money and go to Cebu because it's usually easier there.

She is a shy type and easily get nervous in this kind of situations but who not. Filipinas are known for it and I will be also nervous if I will have to do an interview.

I was thinking also about attending CFO at Cebu but she needs to return to Manila to pick up her passport with visa and than three days later is her scheduled flight to my country. So she must get her sticker in two days after getting her passport from an embassy.

We have already all they requested except filipino friends here in my country which is our main problem now and a reason why we both cant sleep since her cfo.

She went to Manila. The problem is she doesnt have a passport with visa yet. So its a lot of travelling with a very naughty 3 years old kid to go to Manila for passport and than to Cebu for CFO and back to Manila. Or can she get her sticker in Manila even she will attend seminar in Cebu?

They will not complain that she attended the seminar already in Manila? Maybe they will think its suspicious.

She can go to Cebu for her interview and then take the certificate to the airport on the day she is leaving to get her sticker.

Edit. My bad I commented before I finished reading. That is your mistake is that you already booked the tickets before you had everything in hand. So what if she doesn't get everything required for the Manila office, you going to see if she will be allowed on the flight?  When is her interview, and when are the tickets to fly out?

You have two choices here. 1. get the paperwork and return not knowing what the outcome will be. BTW we have seen some ladies get turned down. 2. You can go to Cebu and have almost 100% chance to pass and then she can pick up the sticker at the airport on the day she is leaving. She could did CFO at Cebu and get her sticker in Manila.

Yes I booked already because I want her to be soon with me. Her flight out is next Saturday Mar 24th. So my plan was she will fly to Manila next week on Wednesday, get her passport the same day and on Thursday 22th finish her CFO and get a sticker. But I have read on this forum that they can request again some additional documents so maybe she should go to Manila this week just to finish CFO. Its waste of money but compare to price of two tickets to my country its nothing.
