I-134 does co-sponsor need passport or is a birth certificate ok?

I need a co sponsor, so my question is do they need a passport or is a birth certificate ok to prove they are a u.s. citizen? My fiance from Turkey did some research and found this" Copy of co-sponsor’s U.S. passport or green card, Please bring the U.S. passport or green card copy of your sponsor(s) and/or household member(s), if you have a co-sponsor other than your petitioner"

I think you need something with a photo. Not sure. I’d send copy of passport just in case.

the joint sponsor needs proof of being a LPR or USC

 

for USC it can be one or the other, If the person is a US born citizen, he or she can send a copy of the birth certificate or US Passport

 

not every US Citizen holds a passport, so it can be one or the other
