yes ma'am you are right, but I just wanna share my experience, since  the poster of this thread is a filipina too,  we're from a country, wherein immigration requires a lot of proof of the  relationship or close ties to our country.

ok. i see you seem to be quite new here. usually when people post in a thread, it is to assist the OP in some way (whether to help or inform that what they want is difficult). There are plenty of other forums/threads that deal with immigrant visas and plenty of people from the Philippines posting in them, where your experience in getting the K1 is maybe more relevant.  I'm sure OP would love it if you have any experience that can directly help with her question.

Nice story but that doesn't have anything to do with what the poster of this thread is talking about, which is trying to get a B2 visa after being denied already.

Yes it does it shows that a B2 is very very unlikely. It also shows that applying for a different Visa may also be scrutinized a bit more after so many failed prior visa attempts. Which is why she mentioned that she had 5 visits when doing the K1

Wow thank u for the explanation and giving time for this. Appreciate it!

You were denied under section 214(b) of the immigration act.

In essence, you're allowed to visit the U.S. on a B-2 visa for up to 180 days at a time if the following is true:
1. You plan to leave within those 180 days.
2. You won't work illegally.

3. You won't study.

4. You won't commit any crimes.

It doesn't matter whether you plan to visit Disneyland or your aunt, if the above 4 are true, you are considered a tourist and you will get a B-2 visa. The problem is that 214(b) requires the consular officer to assume that you're intent is to immigrate to the U.S. It leaves it up to you to show that you're not. They are not allowed to authorize a visa unless they're satisfied that you won't overstay, work, study or commit any crimes. That means that the moment you walk into the consulate, the officer interviewing you assumes that you'll get a job in the U.S. and never leave.

In your case, overcoming that assumption is harder because you have an American boyfriend. There is nothing illegal in that, but if they have reason to believe you'll get married and file for adjustment of status (which is 100% legal), then they can't admit you because you're not planning to leave within 180 days. Simple as that. Now, if for instance, your career in Singapore is one that would make it completely insane for you to want to leave everything behind and settle in the U.S., then they're going to be less likely to suspect you won't leave.

Think of the life you have in the Philippines/Singapore - Is there anything there that would it completely crazy for any normal person to want to come and stay in the U.S. instead?

Hi!!!

Planning to re-apply for tourist visa. If i were asked "travelling alone?", what would be the best response? I will be travelling alone, yes. But will be meeting my bf. Plan is, bf from texas to meet me in new york, and spend time together around nyc, probably 10-14 days vacation.

Any advice?

Thanks much!!

Answer all questions truthfully without volunteering what’s not asked for

”are you traveling to the US alone” yes

”do you know anyone in the US” yes (don’t have to volunteer what the relationship is)

“what is their relationship to you” boyfriend (don’t lie that he’s just a friend)

Should have trademarked that.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Say, "I've shown a good travel history in the past year by having traveled to Thailand and Greece, and, as with all my previous foreign trips, I returned to Singapore."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You can meet somewhere else, like in Mexico if you want to get closer to the US.

If you reapply after 1 month you will get denied again because nothing on your application will change considerably. You have to wait at least one year to apply again.

OP would need a Tourist Visa issued by Mexico, and probably wont get approved

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Do you live close to the US Embassy?

I would go on the offensive, don't be shy and be assertive during the interview.

Good Luck
