According to the Associated Press the participation was way down from last year. I remember huge crowds marching down Main Street here in Santa Ana last year and I didn't seen anything this year. According the the Orange County Register about 2000 marched this year which is definitely way below last year.

It was also International Workers' Day... something this country does not really celebrate. Many other countries celebrate that day and have it off for holiday. My guess is it had more to do with that, but maybe there were many reasons for choosing May 1.

Participation was down across the nation. I think it has everything to do with people's fear, but what do I know.
