It's all cash. I'll be transferring it to a US bank account as soon as I open one, shouldn't take more than a few days once I have my SSN.

Gotcha. But you won't be able to get an SSN immediately... perhaps you could transfer it to your husband once you're married and before you file for AOS? This is all based on the idea that assets are sufficient - that seems to depend on each USCIS officer's discretion.

You do not need a SSN to open an account, often easier with one.

As a K1 SSN is the first thing you get, does not take very long.

I would keep the UK account open, just in case.

Aah great thanks. Yeah, I was expecting getting the SSN to take no more than a few weeks. Do you know what I'd need to open a bank account without an SSN? And I'll definitely be keeping my UK bank account :)

I do not remember, it was a small bank and I remember having some issue as I had no SSN but got around it.

Immediately? No. But you could maybe have the card in hand within a week of POE...not really any sort of hurdle here. Two weeks if there's a delay.

Yeah I didn't have an SSN when I first entered the US and I had no problems opening a bank account and transferring overseas money to it.
