Texas Guy, you don't need any help.  This is a great list. While you don't say it, you will need bank/credit card statements from the beginning of your marriage.  If you have been married for a long time, then do quarterly statements.  If you wanted a more complete list, you could add wills and medical powers-of-attorney, and birth certificates for any children you have.  Affidavits are not mandatory, but are strongly suggested if you have an unusual living situation (like if you live rent-free with relatives, or if you live apart because of schooling or temporary job assignments), or have other red flags (like differing religions, wide age differences, for example).

Now - all you other people reading this - just because you DON'T have something on this list does not mean you are sunk.  Each couple is unique.

Here's a high level checklist:

The proper payment

Copy of FRONT AND BACK of Green Card

Form I-751

Proof you have lived together since you married

Proof you have mingled your financial lives (if you have chosen to)

Some of you will have specialized requirements, but those are the basics.  If you look at Texas Guy's list above, everything he has listed fit into these categories.

Public Service Announcement:  If you have kids, PLEASE have wills and medical powers-of-attorney.  Plan for the future!  That's a very good clue that you are a bona fide couple.  (and it's not a bad idea if you DON'T have kids, either).

Good luck to all!
