we need to take a serious look at banning Heroin 

I could have told you this and I have been telling people this. This epidemic of opioid addiction is the single largest issue right now with the Middle Class and White America. I have personally known at least 3 people in the last year that died from a overdose in my community. I am 34 years old from middle class NC not living in a drug infested hood but in a nice country environment. So for people like me to feel the effect of this is crazy and unprecedented, and hardly anyone is talking about it at all. The media would rather run with a Assault Weapons ban because 20 people died in school. But guarantee you that more than 20 from that graduating class will die due to a heroin overdose. A girl I knew from school died 2 weeks ago due to a overdose, she was friends with my brother not me but I still knew her.

   Suicides with firearms are also largely overlooked. Just the way it is. It's not an indictment of which is the more serious issue, but people killing a bunch of other people tends to make the news more than people killing themselves.

You think that is what I said? Not at all what I said. I was pointing out that making heroin illegal created a huge black market with other problems associated with it like gang violence. How would this be any different if we made all guns illegal?

 

Not to get off in a debate about drug policy but I think decriminalization is the best option. Go after the dealers and leave the users alone. One could argue the drug war causes more problems than the drugs themselves. But that's a debate for another time.

  No, I am saying we would likely have more overdoses and deaths if Heroin was easier to get. I don't think that's rocket science, but some are having a hard time with it.

Ever studied suicide stats?  Yes, most are from guns, like 50% for an easy “way out”.  But look at the number of asphyxiations... that’s a number that is large as well.  Not sure how someone could kill themselves that way.
