My wife’s cr1 has not been approved yet,  we are September 2017 filers, so hopefully an approval will come in soon. We wanted to be one step ahead so my wife went for the GCP program to get her passport in her married name and certificate.  They had her do a bunch of extra steps, I’m not sure it’s extra considering how it’s kind of hit or miss as what they might request. She had to get a postal ID, and some other type of ID. And they also wanted her to get a police certificate. She brings all the stuff back like a week and a half later , And now they tell her that on my divorce decree I had a child, which is not correct. In addition my ex-wife wrote down some bad things about me and tried to have it on the divorce to decree but the judge crossed it out because the claims were unfounded. Now they’re telling my wife that she should come back once she has her visa. She’s very upset about this, and I just wanna get some reassurance that there won’t be an issue.

She needs to go back for the cfo sticker that will be put in her passport when she has her visa already. Nothing to worry. It’s the normal process of cfo

I understand this part. But when I file the petition are used her married name. Doesn’t she need to go to the visa interview with the passport and her married name?I understand this part. Attend the interview, once you’re approved and your passport and visa is on hand. Go back to cfo no meed to schedule for an appointment

CFO is like a shark prowling for a minnow .. if it spots anything that sets their sensors to tingling they go for the kill.  Not right, but that is CFO.  Only thing that can be done is give them exactly what they ask for, and don't be surprised if they ask for something else .. sharks rarely swallow their kill in one bite.    When they are done playing your wife will get her certificate, she can then get her sticker.

Did you file the I-130 in your wife's married name?

Yes the passport should be in her married name, to match the I-130 and eventually the visa.

Hopefully CFO won't play games much longer

They did not give her the certificate. All the paperwork was filed for her new passport in her married name. Just to confirm she does need her new passport (married name) to attend the interview correct??

Do read Q18 :   http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-gen-faq.asp      (you already have the visa application in the correct name so you are good there)

Q.18 I changed my name. Is my US visa with my old name still valid?

If your name has legally changed through marriage, divorce, or a court ordered name change, you will need to obtain a new passport.  Once you have a new passport, the Department of State recommends that you apply for a new U.S. visa to make it easier for you to travel to and from the United States.

This tells me nothing, not applicable I’m asking about her interview. Not entering the United States

Ah you are asking if you need the new passport for CFO .... sorry.

No, you can use the one in her maiden name, but make sure to carry both when exiting the country after getting the visa

The answer for that goes back to my previous post..

This from the Dept. of State website>> If your name has legally changed through marriage, divorce, or a court ordered name change, you will need to obtain a new passport

And as noted in my other post  - you already have the visa application in the correct name so you are good there
