Hi all!  I wish I had discovered this forum earlier but better late than never.  Finalizing wife's I751 application and I have a couple specific questions I'm hoping I can get some guidance on so I can get this out tomorrow!  (the card expires 4/26)

1) Her A# seems to have changed at the time we got NOA for her initial I-485.  Before that (i.e. when she was on student visa) she had one A#, and since then all documents, notices, and the green card itself, has the 2nd #.  Research appears to reveal this is not common.  I figure we should put the 2nd A# on the form, but I was going to include an explanation and copies of sample notices for reference just in case there's a disconnect in the system.  Do you think that's necessary?  Wouldn't want putting the wrong A# to trigger problems / denial

2) What should I include from a) tax return transcripts, b) tax account transcripts, and c) full tax returns (we have 2 years of filing jointly and full returns are about 60 pages each)

3) statements for our joint checking account were linked to my personal account with same bank, so printing monthly statements results in a lot of unneeded info.  Is it acceptable to black out (redact) information related to my personal account on the statements we include, and entirely omit any pages that only have info for my personal accnt?

4) I saw that evidence of split rent payments is useful to include.  We have that, but it requires some explanation as my wife pays slightly more ($60) to balance out other utilities that are under my name and for which I pay.  Should I include, or would it actually be counterproductive and raise red flags about why my wife is paying a bit more than me?

Thanks in advance for anybody willing to help, much appreciated!

1) put the A# from her green card.

2) tax return transcripts

3) no.  They have access to this information if they want it.  If you omit pages from a statement (they now say 1 of 9 but you have 6 pages) they will ask for the rest of it anyhow.

4) it doesn't matter if she pays more.  If you want to spell out how you guys work out your finances you certainly can.

My name isn't on the mortgage so I didn't include a mortgage statement but my name is on the title so I included that.  I did not include singular accounts or statements because that doesn't show co-mingling.  I did include our wills, living wills, (both of which were signed the day I sent away the I-751) joint accounts and statements, joint tax returns, house title, joint vehicle insurance, proof of beneficiary's of insurance/401k, 2 statements of relationship, and a few photos.

re: A#, is it worthwhile to include explanation / notices of action, etc - or can I be comfortable simply putting the A# on green card and not including any kind of explanation?

I don't think you need to include an explanation. Your packet will require a copy of her green card too.

Hi all figured I'd check in once more to see if anybody else had any advice

def seems obv to put the current / 2nd A# but do you think I need to include any mention that there was a previous A# or copies of previous notices as reference?

also about the joint account being linked to my personal - I've gotten differing feedback on that.  anywhere from they don't want or need to see anything related to my personal to what niklr said above that I definitely need to include full unredacted statements.  this in itself is one of the reasons this process is so nervewracking - you can get completely opposite answers from people trying to help.  wanted to see if anybody else had experience or knowledge on it

thanks again!

They don't need your personal information, but if the account statements are all linked and sent together, you need to send all the pages.  So for instance, without our joint account (no I did not send my private account, nor did we send my husband's private account info) the statements say page 1 of 9.  In there was an unnumbered page that had a cashed check.  I didn't include that page because it wasn't necessary and they'd have no idea it was missing.

So when you print off your statements online, pay attention to if your personal info is included.  Check your spouse's version online as well.  There is no point in including personal accounts UNLESS it's part of a numbering system in the statements.   I find ZERO point in redacting information other than you're trying to hide it from USPS, fedex or UPS workers.  The US government can find out any information it wants so hiding numbers just seems really pointless to me.  Don't make their job harder or make them wonder if you're hiding anything.  However if you feel safer because those other groups can't see that info, you can redact it if you choose.
