Good Morning All,

The guide reads "Use a money order so you can track the payment. If a personal check is allowed, use that instead."

However, I called USPS and they told me that tracking MOs require going to the post office and filling form. There is no faster way (phone or online) to track it.

Has anybody been able to track Bank Money orders or Bank Certified Checks? How can that be done? I believe when you buy them the amount is deducted right away from your account and thats the end of story as far as updating of your account information is concerned.

Thanks so much for your help,

Use a personal cheque, it's much easier. Plus you can view when it is cashed with your online banking.

We used a personal cheque and just checked online as to when it was cashed.

They did put the wrong MSC# on both cheques when they processed them though so I couldn't check my status online until I got the NOA1s with the correct MSC# on them.

Yes and no. I just checked my cashed cheques. The MSC number, if it doesn't work...

Printed below is a block which will look like:

06xxxxxxxx

mmddyyyy

xxxx-yyyy-z FRB CHICAGO

I tried MSC06xxxxxxxx and it accepted it, while it wouldn't accept the MSCxxxxx number above.

My handy hint for the day!
