Wedding pictures are required specially on interview because it is a proof of bonafide marriage your wedding pics with family. I took my whole album on my interview and CO asked me which one is your favorite wedding pic

This is so not true. I was never asked for any pics, wedding or otherwise to proof bona fide relationship.

Horse feathers.  Wedding pictures are never "required" and they CERTAINLY are not "proof" of a bona fide marriage.  "EVIDENCE" of a bona fide marriage is about the relationship, not a ceremony.  Where not having them could become a problem is if the couple is trying to avoid telling their family or families until after the visa is in hand.  That is evidence AGAINST a bona fide marital relationship.

Exactly this.

Saying it's "required" is basically saying that people who don't have close families and friends are not going to get approved because they don't have people in photos. Or saying that people like myself who was an only child and was orphaned early in life (mother died when I was 7, my dad died before I even got engaged, though he did meet my fiance thankfully) who can't get photos with partner + family are outta luck.

I have filed i130 for my wife in January. We are legally married but we didn't have a wedding yet. Just wanted to know if it is required to have pictures of wedding before the interview that should be scheduled once i130 is approved and went through NVC process.

I want to have the wedding after granting the visa to wife not before then, is that possible?

We had no pictures at all from that day, but I front loaded (meticulously) and had a lot of pictures from our trips. We were never asked for them nor did that ever become an issue. This is extremely surprising coming from a very traditional and conservative Indian Embassy plus we had a lot of red flags

For us at least, the conscious front loading is the reason why we sailed right through -- the file I put together as a whole (peppered with pictures) was able to convey the depth and commitment to our relationship.

If anyone had ever been denied for lack of wedding photos, then you'd have something.  I've read this site a long time and have never seen it.  So far people are reading more into having provided them than there really is.

Also, chalk me up as another with a civil ceremony, just us and no pictures of the wedding.  We got approved.

Example:  The police clearance letter.........or other things listed on the interview checklist.

I agree 100%.

I already said its vary from country to country and embassy to embassy. In check list police certificate is listed but it is not required for pakistan. Similarly for wedding photographs it is not listed but require for pakistan specially cr1 visa.

As I have said, show me an official document stating that wedding pictures are required.....if you can't, then please don't used the word "required".  The original poster's question centered around that word.  Wedding pictures are a good idea and including them helps, but saying that they are absolutely required is just not true........

That one thing follows another does not mean the second is a result of or caused by the first.  What nobody knows for certain is what would have happened next if you did not have "the pictures" you had.  What if you had other photos together NOT from a wedding?  What if you had evidence of living together for several months instead of wedding photos?

Wedding photos are not required.  In cultures where it would be unusual not to have a formal wedding, plenty of other relationship evidence is needed.  Not having a wedding (in those cultures) can be an indicator of the relationship being secret or kept from family members.  Those situations tend to indicate marriages for immigration purposes and can be highly scrutinized.

What if there WAS a formal wedding but the photos got lost or destroyed?  Do you really think the visa would be automatically denied because there were no wedding photos?   Something is only "REQUIRED" if there is no substitute.  A "marriage certificate" or equivalent is "REQUIRED".  Wedding photos are not.

Dear Pushbrk, I never said that photos are a must What i am trying to say that its a big plus specially if you have your family/friends and relatives present. You can even take it by your phone if there is a ceremony etc.

In Middle Eastern and MENA countries, the family knowing about the wedding is VERY important. Also in Islam it is Sunnah to spread the word of marriage to the family and neighbors/friends. So wedding photos are crucial, especially if it's a marriage to a Western woman with a man. We do not have photos of our Islamic part of the wedding or in the court house when we signed with our witnesses but we do have photos of our wedding party at his family's house a few days later.

  • It is not required and never used as the main evidence to support bona fide relationship
  • Some cultures, it is a big red flag if there is a no a big wedding ceremony take place but well explanation backup with good evidence (face-time, receipts, etc.) will definitely help. For my native country, the main reason is both families are primary reside in US so it will make more sense if they do/re-do the wedding ceremony in US.
  • If there are pictures, just throw a few in :) If there is none, then there is none. Just selective photos, do not load them with a lot of photos.  We had like 10,000 pictures (3000 for pre-wedding photo album, 3000 for wedding, and 7,000 for others) but I only used 5 for I-130.

We plan to take along a small family photo album to the interview. If they ask, we'll present them. If not, no harm done. Frankly, I'll be surprised if they do since it isn't a requirement and we already front and side loaded about 30. My guess is if one did his/her homework in advance through well prepared USCIS/NVC packets, not a great deal of evidence outside of  what is on the interview list provided will be necessary.
