Well, due to the TOS, suffice it to say I have not worked in a processing plant, but on a much smaller scale, have handled every single bit that chickens have about them.  Have even spent hours waist-deep in their poo.  Have raised as few as 14 and as many as 250,000.  

 

If that episode upset you, you’re probably better off not researching what happens to laying hens when they quit producing eggs.  It’s rather... unsettling.

the part i didn't like was the chickens being so pumped with hormones that they can't walk and the ground being littered with dead chickens that have to be weeded out..

I'm ashamed that this thread has not yet discussed the way the US stores their eggs compared to Europe.

I have. It's scary crazy HUGE, and ridiculously overpriced...and snooty. There are free sample stations around though. I went to one of the stations to try out a bolognese (it did say 'please try some').. it wasn't manned because the chick was too busy texting or whatever. Next thing I know she's screaming at me like I am the lowest of the low, and how I'm not allowed to touch it. She snatches the cup out of my hand and tells me not to come back.  I'm like.... what the.....?! But apparently the next thing I know, somebody complains to the manager, and he comes chasing me through the store to apologize, and won't I come back and try the bolognese? Was absolutely bizarre.

I never tried it... but it looked good! She snatched the cup from my hands before I could try, and even after the manager begged me to return I was so embarrassed at the scene she caused and peeved I moved on.

 

It was a chicken bolognese. I'll stick to making my own.

i have a friend who lives over the mountain and goes to wegmans frequently to hang out at their bar? a bar in a grocery store..that seems problematic to me.

Yeah some of them have a pub, and others have a full restaurant. I guess it's not too different than Fenwicks (like a Macys) in the UK, which has a wine and sushi bar! I can't say anyone behaves disorderly in them though... the clientele are a bit uppity you know? I've seen people go in daily that do not cook at all... and pick up their weekly meals. That's got to be a lot of cash to drop.

maybe that's why wegman's hasn't ventured over to our neck of the words. we've got plenty of uppity but apparently not enough . recently all the food lions were bought out and converted shop n saves and in the interim of that sale people were petitioning for a wegmans. didn't happen.
