Hi everyone

My husband had his interview in cairo and at the end of the interview the consulate officer gave him the passport back and he said they want review the case again and it might take up to few months then we emailed them they answered back that we are under mandatory administrative process I don't know if this is normal and how long will it take !

And also the lady that he met at the beginning said that we need extra joint sponsor but the officer didn't ask for it

Thanks !

Your case being under AP is not a deniel nor an approval. Usually people get either or but in a few cases, the Embassy doesn’t have enough grounds to approved your or denied you in the spot.

1-how long ago was his interview?

2-did he got any written notification on the spot?

3-Did they gave you instructions to sent the co-sponsor information? You are probably are not making enough money according to the poverty guidelines of your state and household size. And it’s ok, but in that case you must file with a co-sponsor. It can be a friend or a family member that makes more money than you.

4-when did you get the last email/communications from the embassy?

Is important for you to follow up ASAP, as your case has an expiration date. If your case hasn’t been followed up by then, your petition will be canceled and you will need start all over again, unless they allow you to appeal.

From what was originally posted, this is NORMAL administrative processing.  There is absolutely no need for panic.  All you can do is to wait out the process.

They are requesting more info from her, but she hasn’t clarify yet if she already submitted the info or not. Although is a normal process, the “just wait out” doesn’t sound like the best idea, unless she has already complied with everything requested. Regardless of the process, all petitions has an expiration date and she must be on top of her case.

If she fails to provide what the embassy is requesting in a timely manner, her case will be denied or they purposely will wait until the time is up, and the case expires. I have seen this happening before.

No need to panic, I agree, but I wouldn’t just sit down and wait

If he received a 221g asking for another I-864, she must respond immediately.  But if she has provided everything and the case is in administrative processing, it will not expire.

That’s my point

I assumed she got a 221g but she didn’t mentioned it, she only said her husband got her passport back and they told her they need more time. I also assumed the email she got weeks later was in fact the 221g. But I just wanted to made sure what did they received.

And that’s my concern and that’s why I stated she cannot just sit and wait if she hasn’t complied....which doesn’t look like she did (once again, I’m just assuming).

let’s wait and see what she says
