@Thezappa

You mentioned previously that you filed in September. Just wanted to let you know we got our interview notice (in the mail, no e-mail or text) for late February, so you should be getting your soon hopefully! Keep your eye on the mailbox!

A few questions for others:

  • Does anyone know what documentation is valid for showing eligibility for lawful permanent status? Is a copy of the passport page with K-1 visa enough?
  • I submitted the I-864 with the AOS application. Should I still bring most recent tax info and/or letter from employer?
  • The notice asks for "original and copy of each supporting document submitted with application. Otherwise, we make keep your originals for our records." Did anyone submit all their AOS supporting evidence again?

Approved on the spot

Had my interview at 12:15 today. It took about 45 minutes. The officer was pretty thorough but friendly and and at the end told us that she was approving us. 20 minutes after we left the office, the notification online changed to "Card is being produced".

Yay! Congratulations! You both made it!!!

So here is the long post detailing the interview today. Hope it helps

So we had our interview in Seattle today and we were approved on the spot.

1. We reached the seattle office 45 minutes before the interview [ Parking for the USCIS office in Tukwila is $8 Cash, so don't forget that]
2. We walked into the office 30 minutes before the interview and checked in on the first floor
3. We walked up to the second floor and sat on the left hand side (we should have sat on the right hand side since that's were the officials come out and call the names but luckily we heard her clearly)

The interview took about 45 minutes with the first 15 minutes being spent in:

1. Taking the photo
2. Fingerprints (index fingers only)
3. Making us take the oath and checking our id's - Keep your passport, drivers license, EAD (for the beneficiary) ready and for the petitioner, ensure they have their drivers license or passport ready
3. Going through all the questions on the I-485 (the officer also peppered us with questions form the I-130 such as each other's birthdays, parents names, each others full names, where each other was born and so on) while going through the questions in the I-485.
4. The next 30 minutes was spent mainly asking us about the following
--- How we met
--- How long did we know each other before we started dating and how we kept in touch
--- When did we decide to make it official
--- How we got engaged (this she asked my wife to tell the story and asked me questions as my wife was telling the story)
--- What we did for our marriage
--- Asking about common interests
--- Random stuff like "do you have any pet peeves about each other"

Then she asked us if we had any additional documentation to add to what was already submitted in the initial application. I handed her our very extensive Table of contents (which can be found here: https://www.***removed***/forum/showthread.php/243268-Feedback-on-our-folder-of-evidence-Marriage-based-AOS?p=593972#post593972) which she absolutely loved and asked if she could keep it since said it was incredibly well organized. From the list of evidence she asked for

1. Common bank statements (interestingly she only wanted the latest statement and not the statements for the last 6 months since she said she didn't want to overwhelm the file and wanted to keep the case file no thicker than 6 inches)
2. Copy of the Lease agreement for the apartment we stayed in before we bought a house
3. Copy of the title deed of the house
4. Insurance documents - she was a little surprised that we didn't have each other on each other's health insurance but we explained that we both had health insurance from our respective companies (which was fully paid for by the company) and if we needed to add each other to the company insurance, we need to pay fairly high premiums which didn't make sense. She agreed that made sense and she liked the other insurance documents we had presented.
5. Copy of our Power of attorney documents
6. Copy of the 2017 tax filing (she just wanted the first 2 pages to show that we filed jointly)

After that we spent some time looking through all the photographs we had got (about 40 of them) and explaining where every one was taken and the story behind them (and highlighting the ones where we had family or friends in them) and she took all our photographs

After that, she told us that she was going to approve us and we should get a notification about the card being produced in 30-60 days and thanked us again for being so organized and said she loved how we had organized everything with dates since that showed the strength and length of our relationship. She then walked us out.

20 minutes later after we were sitting down to get lunch, I got a notification that our card was in production.

We got mine yesterday, so unless there any major issues you should be getting it soon if you havent already got it. What is your online status.

We waited for 1 hour until they called us.

The interview was not even 15 min... The officer did not tell us we were approved, but we had a good feeling.

30 min after the interview I got the sms, and my status changed to New Card Is Being Produced!!

So we received a notice of approval, however, this morning we received notice that our case is being opened to reconsider the previous decision... has anyone ever had this happen?? I'm super confused, concerned, unsure about what to do..  Our previous status stated "New card being produced" and remained in this status since our interview on 1/31

We had a few confusing things happen as well after our interview. We received a email saying you have had your interview these are a list of the next things you must prepare. They were things we'd already done a long time ago.  They ate having lot's of problems with this new pilot computer program.  I would recommend calling and asking. To verify. I called and there was no request like the email we had received. Calling will help clarify if this was a computer error or not.

Thanks for the insight! We called yesterday and in standard fashion, they told us that if our case status changed then we need to wait for the letter.. but they didn’t confirm or deny if it’s an error. I got another case update email this morning but there was no change to the case.

feeling a bit frustrated about this step back, but hoping it gets sorted soon!

I understand the frustration in the wait of uncertainty.  We got our green card first then the letter stating we would be receiving our green card.

If you decide to call again you could always ask to speak to a tier 2 agent.  The call center people don't have a lot of information. Hopefully this will all work itself out quickly.  Hang in there.

So weird on your timing! But glad you finally have the green card in hand!

Apparently I can't call in on my husbands behalf (I'm the US citizen) which I find super odd. But I'll have him call in and request a tier 2 agent. Thanks for your help and kind words! Chatting to someone else that knows how stressful these things are is so so helpful/

Thought I'd provide an update - Apparently there was an issue with the Green Card printer, thus delaying our card production but our approval status is no effected! We dont have any timeline though.. but have an infopass appointment on March 5th as a back up in case the card isnt produced by then.

So happy and relieved to hear the news!!
