Hi everyone! So we submitted a petition for my mom last year in august and today we got a letter from USCIS for RFE. They are asking for proof of name change. They are asking to submit an evidence showing that my maiden name and married name are used for the same person I am applying petition for which is my mom. Not sure why I got an RFE, I submitted my birth certificate and my naturalization certificate along with my petition for my mom. You’d think USCIS can just pull up my name and dig in to all the documents we submitted since my k1 visa. Lol!!

Anyway, anyone have had the same experience? It says on the letter that evidence of a name of change may include birth certificate (which I submitted already) marriage certificate, divorce decree, death certificate, adoption decree or court order.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Hey you!

Give they another copy of you or BC, then include a copy of your marriage certificate and if need be a copy of your naturalization or passport.   With USCIS the different department do not share information.

You are almost there... ;)

You can't fight city hall. Just resend copies of the requested documents. I don't see a problem with Mom getting her visa after you submit what they want.

Thanks Greenbaum and Hank! Yes! Mailing out the copy of my BC again and copy of my marriage certificate and I will also include the copy of my baptismal certificate where it shows my maiden name even my mothers name in it. I plan to mail it out tomorrow. Not wasting any time.
