My husband and I applied for AOS back in September 2017. Had the biometrics done in October and are now waiting for what's next.  Our case is being handled by the Santa Ana, CA office and as of December 31, 2017, they were still processing January 11, 2017.  Does anyone have experience with this office and how long it normally takes?

Right now the timeline for AOS is about 1 year. So you still have awhile to go. Did you happen to file for EAD and AP when you sent in the AOS paperwork?

Always apply for EAD and AP when filing for AOS. Now you’re gonna be stuck in limbo until your greencard comes in. That means no work and no traveling internationally, and in some states no driver’s license.

Honestly, we really didn't know any better.  We did this on our own without assistance or guidance.  The lawyer we used to help with the Visa was terrible and overpriced and put a sour taste in our mouths.  My husband is the caregiver to our now 16 month old son so an EAD didn't make sense at the time because cost of daycare would be about the same as what he would earn.

You can still do that and the timeline for that right now is about 120 days.

Thank You

How did you learn that your case is with your local office?

I am an October filer and I called twice and got different answers. One officer said it is with Santa Ana office and one said it is at the NBC. Really confusing.

This is what we were told when we contacted USCIS.
