Good Morning!

Thought of sharing my interview experience at Philadelphia USCIS Office on Sep 26th, 2018

My appointment was scheduled for 2 pm. I reached an hour early and after passing thru security , was placed in front of Door 1( Philly has three such doors with many small cubicles  in it)for interview.  I kept noticing that most officers that  kept coming and going out of Door 1 didn't look friendly and gave this serious stare which drained your confidence away. :)  Fortunately, a lady with a sweet smile walks out Door 1 and calls my name- Ah! Made my day. We greeted each other ( i never saw her around while i was waiting all this time-maybe an angel itself!). She walked me to her cubicle, sworn me in and i was seated. She was very friendly and teased about how Indian parents push their children to have kids right after marriage(True!). :) .  Next, she asked 6 questions

1) Who is the Vice President

2) Who were taken as slaves and brought to US

3)What is an amendment

4)Who vetoes bills

5)Who did US fight in World War II

6) What is the supreme law of the land

Got all six right !

Reading portion- " Who can vote"

Writing portion- "Citizens can only vote"

That's it!

Next, she went thru my application and asked questions about my marriage, my work, new travels and job changes since filings. She asked me to hand over the copy my 2018 tax return transcript which i did carry with me. At the end, she recommended my application for approval :) . Not over guys- That's when i broke the big request to her about my upcoming travel on Oct 19th ( just few weeks away )and humbly requested if she was able to schedule me for oath before the travel date( too much and too quick to ask for).  Philly has ceremonies on Mondays and Fridays every week. I will be travelling on a Friday and returning the following Monday. So it was certain i would miss two chances if i got scheduled and i already knew it was impossible for her to schedule it that soon.  Anyway- this amazing officer made a note on my application and told she would try her best to get me date after consulting with her supervisor. She said- "NO GUARANTEE! NO HOPES!"

Today morning i got this notification - AH!!! Oath Ceremony Notice Mailed!!! That was super quick! I wish i could thank her in person!

I wish everyone best of luck! I wish everyone encounter an amazing experience!

Ausa- That is my wish ( 4th July) too.  But, PA office is very slow now a day.  What is your estimated data as per your case status.  Mine is Feb 2020 ( 13 months)

Mine is 14 months....but I am going to be optimistic for the next few months and then probably annoyed and frustrated if I don't hear anytthing by August - despite knowing they estimate 14 months.

For normal cases with no complications, PA field office is taking 7 months to send interview notice and 2-3 months for interview and may be oath.  So we are looking around 10 months.
