NOA date v. receipt date

I have been pondering this a while, but never really found an answer...

On the USCIS website, it says:

"On March 1, 2007, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case...."

My paper NOA has a date of March 5, so this is what I've been using.

I've read people saying to use the actual receipt date on the USCIS site. Is this true? Should I be using March 1 instead of March 5 in my timeline?

Sorry, I meant to post this in the general discussion forum.

I think it varies by user. I rememer asking the same question when I got my NOA1. I listed every damn possible date in my signature :)

FOr the timeline, I put the day I mailed it, and then the date stamped on the NOA1 that arrived in the snail mail.

(FYI - the dates generated on people's VJ timelines are keyed to the date-mailed - your oldest date. The stats that fwaguy compiles are keyed to the NOA1 date. )

p.s. I don't think I'd change mine since that would just make it LONGER since my NOA1! For fwaguy's stats anyway. Bad enough already ;)

The receipt number is assigned the day listed on the website .. the date on the hardcopy NOA-1 is the day that the document was generated .. I think I would use the one from the website ..
