Is it ok is my fiance bring his bank statement from November?

Once your above the poverty level you don't need bank statements nor any other asset. They just need your last three tax return or tax transcript.

We are here, panicking. We had our interview and I posted about it in the consular discussion section of the forum. Our interview did NOT go well AT ALL and we have submitted more evidence that we hope will help. The consular officer does not seem to think our relationship is legitimate and wants more proof, though all we got is a 221(g) saying that we have been put under Administrative Processing. I sent more evidence of our relationship yesterday and it should arrive on Monday, and my fiance did also. We sent 40 pages worth of MSN Messenger chat sessions, a few e-mails, receipt from my wedding dress, application from the hall we plan to get married in, a letter written on our behalf from a close friend of ours, proof that he was on my apartment lease agreement while he was here, and more pictures of us together. I don't know why we didnt have all that in the first place, but we thought we had enough evidence with us. I guess what we brought was not convincing enough. So we hope our consulate officer gets the paperwork on Monday and it helps him decide to grant Kim's visa. He said he will contact Kim sometime late next week. So now I am waiting on pins and needles hoping the news is good. I am so scared right now I can't even think straight, I have hardly been able to eat or sleep. This has got to be one of the most stressful things you can possibly go through.

I'm glad to see that everyone else is still doing well. Next week I'll either be doing REALLY well or will be REALLY miserable. I just want something to go RIGHT for a change. My honey and I belong together!!

I'm so sorry to hear that things didn't go well. It sounds like you sent lots of stuff, so hopefully that'll be enough. I sent a huge envelope full of things. I figured too much is better than too little, so I hope things will be ok. My fiance's interview is Monday morning, so I'll keep you posted and you do the same...I'll keep my fingers (eyes, legs & arms) crossed for you (and I). Please just explain to my bosses why I can't work though (something like: sorry...Sandi has to keep everything crossed so she won't be able to work today!)

You're right about this process being stressful (the ever patient one and myself are well aware of that!), but try to be positive. Once he's approved, you can look back and it'll be just another speed bump you had to take the time to go over :) We're here with ya (F)

Thank you, and good luck on your interview! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

It is hard to stay positive, I read so many stories of how people who were given 221(g)'s sent additional evidence, and they don't even look at it, that it won't help, and that their cases got sent back to the US anyway no matter what they did or tried. I am not seeing stories of those sending in additional evidence and the consular officer changes their mind and issues the visa. He didnt even request more evidence. Our white 221(g) just says "Administrative Processing" and thats it. I know I should just stop reading, I am making myself more depressed. It just seems like once a consular officer is convinced your relationship is not legitimate, it is really hard changing their minds.

Make sure you DROWN them with as much evidence of your relationship as you can so they cannot have ANY doubt.

I learned that a bit too late.

I know it's hard, but I have read some cases on here of those who sent more evidence and were approved, so don't be too depressed yet (I know...easier said than done).

One thing my finace and I have in our favor is that I lived in Japan for 15 years (been back 4 1/2) and we've been together over 12 years. I sent proof of my visa while living there (of which the embassy has record of as I'm still on their mailing list) and he lives at the bottom of the hill in my old neighborhood. Some of the pics I sent were old, but they're proof none the less. I can't imagine what else they would need to prove our relationship, but you never know.

Keep your chin up and keep in touch (F)

Hi guys:

2 questions:

If we get a work stamp at POE in New York, does that mean he can work right away? I just talked to a lawyer on the telephone; a) he says they don't do that anymore and B) even if you get one, you can't work----doesn't make sense.

The I-864 (affadavit of support) has to be submitted with the I-485 (AOS). Can we use the same one we used for the K-1 interview or do we need a newer, updated one?

Thanks, Alane & Ramzis :luv::luv:

If he gets the temp EAD from JFK (haven't heard that it has stopped being given out) your fiance still needs to get a SSN before he starts working.

The I-134 is what your fiance should take to the interview. I-864 is for AOS.

Actually, it depends on the country. My fiance's country (Liberia, W. Africa) required the I-864 for his interview. So this is a good question. I saved a copy to my computer so it's just a matter of re-printing it and getting it notrized. Most banks will do it for free if you have an account with them.
