wondering if any may filers have had their interviews yet!?!? should be getting close to that time for some people right?!?!

VSC has been dissapointing me recently with their numbers- it is time to make up for slacking off!

Happy Tuesday

I don't think there have been too many due to CSC not sending cases to NVC yet. They seem to behind in that department too :(

I was just about to say the same thing. I have not heard of a May filers packet making it to NVC as of todays date. Would be interested in finding out if anyones has and how long it took.

The patient one is going down fast----I called----I got a semi-OK person. She informed me that we are allowed to call only 1 time per month and that I better not call anymore. Actually, the more I think about it, she wasn't nice at all!!! I called last Thurs. and was told by someone VERY nice that my case had been assigned to an officer. Today she told me they are processing applications received on June 8. I know that is not entirely true because of the approvals we have been seeing. The patient one must just REALLY sit tight I guess!!! Alane & Ramzis :(:(

Ramzis, I called three times in one week, twice in one day. The last call I made the guy told me that I could call anytime for information. I think what she told you was BS. I am hoping you get your approval this week.

Hang in there.

Back from China. Very quick visit. She cried at the airport. :( But I assured her that we are half way there. I hope this is true.

Congratulations to everyone who got approved while I was away!

Keep us posted on how long it takes from the time it is received at the CSC to NOA-2 approval. My RFE info was received on Monday morning, I got a touch that same morning, but nothing since. I wonder how the RFE process works. Once received at CSC, is the packet scanned and immediately sent to the original officer? Does it sit in thier mailbox untill they decide to go get it? Do RFE's get immeidate attention since our packets are already in the "works"? I have a thousand questions and zero answers.

Hope everything works out for you.

I have a question for you Zee....

I noticed that your wedding date is set for next year. On our NOA2 that we have, it said something about the approval being good only through Jan. 20, 2008. I have NO idea what that means. Like if my fiance didn't come into the country before then would we have to start over? That's what I originally thought. But then I saw your timeline and figured that couldn't be the case. I believe you got your NOA2 before we did, so I'm wondering what the expiration date on the NOA2 actually means.

2007:

February - May: extended visit to States, engagement.

5/4: I-129F sent (Texas Service Center, forwarded to California Service Center)

5/11: Petition received at California Service Center.

5/16: Check cleared. NOA1 online (no hard copy received yet)

6/19: NOA1 hard copy arrived FINALLY

7/16: Sent off for Police Certificate (U.K.)

8/22: TOUCHED due to phone call (RFE Trick, was told case wasn't assigned yet)

9/20:APPROVED!!! After 127 days from NOA1 and 139 days from filing date.

10/23: Spoke to Kelly at NVC who said they should have received our petition by now. She advised I send a copy of our NOA2 directly to the NVC office, which I did immediately. :-)

10/26: NVC RECEIVES CASE!

10/30: NVC SENDS CASE TO LONDON CONSULATE

11/1: Consulate receives case in London AND sends out Packet 3.

11/6: Sent Packet 3 to Consulate (we'd downloaded the forms on VJ and had them completed already)

11/22: Appointment for Medical.

2008:

01/08: Interview scheduled for 10 a.m. APPROVED!!!

02/01/08: Stephen comes to America!!!

I believe the date on the NOA2 is how long the approval is valid for scheduling an interview etc but it can be extended by the embassy if an interview date is not given in that time frame. Once the interview is done and the visa issued the only time constraint is when the visa expires. So, in our case, we may need to extend the validity of the NOA2 because it expires in January 2008 and our interview is in March but then once we have our interview in March we are only worried about the expiration of the visa itself.

Ah! Okay! Excellent. I've been so concerned with worrying about the NVC NOT getting our case yet, that I haven't really given much thought to anything else. But I had been wondering about the expiration date. So thank you!!

After the I-129F has been approved, the fiancé(e) has 4 months from the time the I-129F was approved to obtain the K-1 Visa at the US Consulate in the foreign country. If required, this time period can be extended by a consular officer.

Directly from the source regulation: TITLE 8 OF CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (8 CFR) \ 8 CFR PART 214 -- NONIMMIGRANT CLASSES, Sec. 214.2(k) Spouses, Fiancees, and Fiances of United States Citizens. (Heading amended 8/14/01; 66 FR 42587 )

(5) Validity . The approval of a petition under this paragraph shall be valid for a period of four months. A petition which has expired due to the passage of time may be revalidated by a director or a consular officer for a period of four months from the date of revalidation upon a finding that the petitioner and K-1 beneficiary are free to marry and intend to marry each other within 90 days of the beneficiary's entry into the United States. The approval of any petition is automatically terminated when the petitioner dies or files a written withdrawal of the petition before the beneficiary arrives in the United States.
