HI, my partner (based in the US and me in the UK) and I are going to file the I-12F over the next couple of weeks. How long is it until the medical? I'm asking since a friend of mine is coming to Europe from the US and we have a trip to Amsterdam pre-booked. I don't smoke or do any recreational drugs, however, while in Amsterdam, if I were to take a few puffs or do any edibles, would that show up during my medical exam and do they check for weed? Is it too risky to do anything, what are your thoughts? ;)

Actually. if you have done drugs at any time in your life you will be at risk of being banned. Not just if you have done it recently.

Of course they check for drug use.

If you mention it, you are screwed. If you don‘t mention it and they find out anyway somehow you risk a lifetime ban. So I‘d think about how important drugs are for you.

Thanks, I hadn't realised how serious it is and the penalties. I'll just skip, no big deal for me.

Thanks, I wasn't sure what the drugs test or process was. Thanks.

In London, Knightsbridge clinic will ask you on two paper questionnaires and in person if you have ever done drugs, even  just for fun. If you say yes, you will be given a urine test to check. Otherwise a drug screening is NOT part of the routine visa medical exam. They do check for sexually transmitted diseases.
