Your field office is in the state where you live and you also had the biometric appointment there for your N-400 application.

so i'm in CA and took my biometric appointment in Tustin, but there isn't an office in tustin, do i just assume the most closest one is mine field office?

Yes, and I have attached a link of California USCIS field offices which will give you a more clear idea. Click on the service area tab and it will show you various zip codes which will help you find out your field office.

So I'm done with (I hope) my last interview with USCIS. For anyone interested, here's the summary of my experience at the PDX office:

I was scheduled for 9.20. Thanks to VJ and other friends, I knew this would have to be a combo interview (even though the appointment letter didn't mention a thing about ROC) so I went with my husband. At about 9.50, I got my name called by an officer who tried to tell me they didn't need my husband. I mentioned the pending ROC and he switched to commending me for bringing him.

Officer Cole was super nice and gregarious. He had my thick file in front of him and asked if I brought anything else he still needs. I offered a bunch of stuff, he only took my latest IRS transcripts. Asked how we met, if we have kids, told us that we'd be surprised about the kind of explicit "evidence" some people send etc. We joked and laughed, and the transition to the N400 part of the interview was almost unnoticeable. I was surprised he didn't kick out my husband for the 2nd part, but he said that, since he seems willing to obey orders, he can stay.

For the civics questions, I had the following:

- What is the supreme law of the land?

- What is an amendment?

- Who vetoes bills?

- What is the capital of your state?

- What do we show loyalty to when we say the pledge of Allegiance?

- Who did the United States fight in World War II?

For the reading/writing part, I had the same sentence: "The White House is in Washington DC."

All good, but he explained that he cannot recommend me for approval right away because he needs to update my ROC application and they have a new system that's a pain etc etc. At this point I brought up my upcoming trip to Romania on September 16, and he said he'd do his best, but if I don't get an oath letter in a month, to make an appointment to get the stamp in my passport, and they'd schedule my for the oath after I return.

And now I can (almost) shred all the bits and pieces of evidence I have gathered over the years :)

For everyone still waiting, hang in there, the end is in sight!

@evapaula Thanks a lot for sharing your interview experience I was waiting for it. I am very happy to know you had such a great interview. Just one question did the IO asked any question from your husband during the course of two interviews? I was looking at the PDX applicants timeline and they normally have the same day oath or it takes around a month to schedule the oath ceremony. Since your trip is in September you should be good. Keep us posted. We have a similar case and same field office I would be interested to know when they will schedule your oath ceremony. Bes wishes :)

He asked both of us how we met etc, but I was more talkative :)
He did say that normally, if I only had the N400, they always do same day ceremonies, but I might have to wait until October when I come back. Oh well.

I'll keep you posted for sure.

I filed on February 26 (so almost March), but yes, it was unusually fast. My 3 year anniversary was May 26 and the scheduled me a few days later (May 31). I guess it's making up for the ROC :)

haha, I am definitely the more talkative when it comes to strangers, but my husband will talk my ear off in the morning when I don't want to hear/see anyone :D

I hope you're right about the oath timeline -  as you were right about my interview date! Officer Cole seemed sympathetic to my cause. But if worst comes to worst, I'll just pay the $200 to have my name adjusted on the flight ticket and try to to be too upset about it.

Wife had her interview today.  We assumed it was going to be a combo interview and luckily it was.  The first thing

the officer asked for was my wife's birth certificate and our marriage certificate.  Fortunately we had brought her birth certificate

even though it did not state on her interview letter to bring it.  He wanted to compare her maiden name to her married name to

see what changes she made.  According to her Philippine culture, she had changed her middle name to her family name and used

my last name as her new last name.  He then asked for several bills from 2018 in both our names.  He also took her two year expired

green card.  I was then told to leave so he could proceed with the interview for the N-400.

Wife was done in about 15 minutes.  Like evapaula,  he explained to my wife that he could not recommend her for approval right

away because he needed to update her ROC application.  He also gave her a form that she is to take to the oath ceremony, indicating

she had already turned in her expired green card.  Case has already updated on the USCIS website.  It states card is in production, although we know she will never receive it.

Hopefully more and more March filers will start receiving the interview letters.  Good luck everybody.
