People need to understand the role of NBC whether you filed for citizenship or not as long as they want you to have an interview for any application it must go to NBC for them to prepare the case for the interview at your local office.This means they might send an RFE for more evidence or additional evidence since you've filed the application so the officer who'll interview you will or should have enough evidence to adjudicate. If however they realize there is enough evidence to approve you for the benefit the NBC after receiving these can waive the interview requirements and approve the case just like CSC or VSC would if enough evidence was there. if there is still not sufficient proof after they've collected RFE they will then forward it to your local office and send you the interview date and advise you what additional documents to bring to the interview. So even if you didn't file for citizenship and you have a pending I751 if CSC or VSC couldn't approve it they will forward it to NBC for them to forward it to your local office however when NBChas it they now have jurisdiction over it and can decide to Approve it based on what is there or forward it for an actual interview. The NBC is like an intermediary between all local offices. A local office can only get your files from the Records Center or NBC which basically are the same place. If the local office needs a file and its at VSC for example when they request it VSC will forward it to NRC or NBC then they will forward it to your local Office. Alot of the transfers to Nebraska and Texas etc are for workload purposes. sometimes they wont update this on their site but they send them to a service center closer to you to adjudicate hoping to have some work off their backs so thats a good thing to get a transfer sometimes.

April 2018 filer here, stalking to get an idea on how long until interview scheduled for us. Have any March filers had interviews scheduled and when did you file?

It depends on various things but most heavily relies on your field office. If your field office is backlogged you would have to wait longer. The USCIS online processing somehow reflects the reality but is not accurate. Two March applicants interview were scheduled as far as I could recall.

so basically when you receive your appt. for biometrics, you can opt to do a walk in instead (example: you don't want to take a day off work and want to go when you do have time off?)

Only if your local center allows it. ASCs tend to be pretty relaxed, but if your biometrics are to be taken at a local field office they can sometimes be stricter about enforcing the scheduled appointment date but again it depends on where you live.

Ah I see.

I just filed my N-400 on 5/4/2018 and although I got a estimated time of May 2020, I am just trying to stay patient and arm myself with information. Thank you!

Only getting updates to say there are no updates.

I also confessed to a citation, that apparently wasn't mine. Back in 2005/6 There was a ticket on our car ( my ex husband and mine) for a parking violation for parking against the flow of traffic. I really thought it was my fault. The online form asked for evidence of my "crime" so I wrote to the local County Court to get records which I could upload. I received a letter back to say that I had never had a ticket in my name. Completely stumped, I called them and said the only other person who could have driven the vehicle was my ex husband. Lo and behold it was in HIS name. The sent me evidence of such and I'm exonerated. Now I suppose I'd better work out how to explain this. Any ideas? I feel a complete idiot, but a happy idiot !

Jacksonville is on a roll Might have to do with how its a test subject office now. Not allowing InfoPass appointments to be made by oneself anymore. We have to call USCIS to make the appointment and it eliminates people coming in for little to no reason, if not needed. Makes it lot less busy i would assume.
