Legend: 
GC-Date: The 'Resident Since' Date located on your first green card.
Sent: Date N-400 was mailed to USCIS.
Cashd: Date your check was cashed / credit card was charged by USCIS.
NOA: Receipt Notice Date Printed on your official I-797 notification.
Fprints:  Date assigned for fingerprinting (Bio-metrics). If you do your biometrics via walk-in prior to your scheduled appointment, please enter the date in bold blue.
In Line: Date you received e-notification about the start of your interview scheduling.
Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview.
Interview: Date of your interview.
Oath: Date Oath taken.

Field Office: Your local USCIS office where you will have the N-400 interview.

Ok, I just went to my N400 interview which was supposed to be a joint interview with i751 (downtown LA, California). 

Everything went smooth and calm but I only had n400 part.  

I was in a waiting room for more than hour and a half and when someone called my name my husband and I stood up and went to officer. He said that he doesn’t need my husband. I asked how come it’s only me because I still have i751 pending and we both were getting ready for the interview. He said “don’t panic, let’s do n400 first and then I will forward i751 to another officer for review”

 

He only asked me 6 questions:

-what people were taken to America as slaves

-how many amendments does the constitution have 

-what is the highest court in the United States 

-who makes federal laws

-name of Vice President 

-why did colonists fight the British. 

 

Then he asked me to read “Which state has most people?” And then write down the answer “California has the most people”

 

Then we went through “yes/no” questions. I had a feeling that officer was really tired and bored while reading all that. His office was a bit messy. But he didn’t make me feel stressed or nervous. 

 

After that he did something in his computer for quite some time and printed a paper saying that we are done for today and I will be contacted regarding my i751. I asked him if that will be another interview, and he said: “maybe yes, maybe no, you will be notified. That’s it. But you passed today’s test” 

He gave me a paper with a check mark in the section “decision can not be made at this moment”

 

He didn’t ask for any additional documents like tax return, family photo etc. only passport and green card (which was taken away when I went to infopass to get a stamp). 

 

That was it. So now what? Just another waiting game? Will there be another interview or people with same experience as I had are getting approved soon after the interview or waiting for another month/year? 

 

I swear I thought I will sh** myself while I was waiting. But there was absolutely nothing to be afraid of.  Just learn the questions.

I just went for an interview today in Downtown LA too. And I got the same thing as your case.

✅I passed the test, the decision has not been made yet. 

My 10yrs green card is still in processing like your too. 

Will see, what’s going to be next step!!! 😬

I just read somewhere that LA office doesn’t do joint interviews anymore ...😒 did they tell you how long you have to wait? My officer didn’t give me any time frame at all

@Mad rabbit and @RN_SUN Im really sorry to hear about your interview experience and sad to know Los Angeles office is not processing combo interviews anymore. I think after the N-400 interview they will send the documents for somebody process the pending I-751 and you should hear good news soon.

 

I just saw that @orange010 and @Camelot13 also had similar experience in Los Angeles last month. Maybe they can help us understand next steps.

 

@orange010 Could you please share with us what happen after your interview and what they told you on your Infopass on 10/12 ? Any news ?

 

@Camelot13 Did you get your I-751 approved after the N400 interview ?

I Passed my Interview today at the Chicago office. The officer was nice and friendly. I am told I would get my Oath ceremony in 2 months.
I filed Onlne 3/31/18. Best wishes to all of you!
