Starting to get my itinerary lined out. I'm pretty sure I'm not picking the best time of year to go there, but it has to work into my time frame also.

Be over there from June 29 to July 17.  She is from Mindanao and will meet me in Manila. We will be spending a few days with her extended family there and visit some of the Manila historical  sites.   Fly to Mindanao on 3 July and stay until 16 July.

I made my first reservation for the 4 nights there.

That's at least a start. Let the adventure begin.

Thank you. It's been over 10 years since I did my previous K1 from the PI. That didn't work out as she was in an overwhelming situation. She threw a lot of Tampo too. Tampo can be a relationship dissolver. I was a widower with 4 kids, she had a daughter that accompanied her and it was just a lot to deal with. She wanted to return and I happily obligated her after her 60 day US vacation. A 29 y/o acting like a 17 y/o 80% of the time, is a no-go for me. It all worked out for them though, so it was a blessing for all.

Check out Fort Santiago if you are in that area (not too far from MOA) .. lots of history.

Where in Mindanao are you going if you don't mind me asking? My asawa is from Mindanao as well and I love it there. You will be there the same time I will be there in Davao.

I know they have. Fees, Docs all of it. I know it's not easy and will be an 11-17 month time period after submitting I-29f. We met the very same day she had posted an ad. Her ad was not very revealing/detailed, but she sounded sincere and almost desperate. I just happened to browse those ads, which I hadn't ever before, saw her ad and replied.

As we have talked since Jan 4, 18, we have gotten to know details of our lives. She is 35 yo, graduating from culinary school in March 17, who has never been married and has 0 kids. She keeps telling me how she is becoming an old maid type.. She is very simple in nature and has a pleasant manner.

Sh also works a small retail job.

Hope all works wonderful for you two!

The "old maid" thing  at only 35 always gets a chuckle out of me.    (over 30 no one wants to hire you and you have become too old to marry ...   )

But I know that's what I keep telling her. She still young.  That's one of the problems of being one of 14 million beautiful women that want to get off of the archipelago  called the PI.

She told me she has had suitors from her area of Pagadian City,  but said so many of them have no future or there are relation problems. So there she is, a beautiful woman, hoping at age 35 to be discovered or found. Her dreams are a little bit bigger of them PC, Mindanao.

It is a different culture for sure.

I walk into the SM near our home, there is a help wanted sign;  women - 28 y.o. or younger, college educations, no children, and of a certain height  .. and that is to be a cashier.

Some think only the low hanging fruit is sweet .. ;)

Ahhh ok I haven't been that far west in Mindanao. The farthest west I have been is CDO because usually I stay around Tagum City, Trento, or Compostela Valley. Which is good because I usually only have to deal with the NPA there and not BIFF or MILF, and my in laws know all the NPA in the area so I am ok.

Rizzel park near the Embassy is a beautiful park. When I was there 5 years ago they were doing a lot of repairs and enhancements. Also, not to far from there is the National History Museum which for me was a great adventure in learning the culture and the history of the PI. Then of course you have Sea World across from Rizzel Park. When you are in the park you got to use one of the Comfort Rooms. You have a stand up urinal and you are basically outdoors with Bamboo trees and vegetation just on the other side of the urinal. Do worry, it's still in an enclosure not to be seen from the outside.

If you have time a horse drawn carriage ride through Intramuros is very nice.  The American Cemetery is also worth a visit.  I enjoy WWII sites so Corriegidor Island is also a great day trip.
