Hi everyone,

 

I hope there has been some progress for all of August filers.  I've received my green card and wanted to share my experience.  My interview was schedule for March 21st, and got notified exactly a month prior to the date.   My PD is Aug 25, field office is Boston, MA.  About a week before the interview, I signed up for the new uscis tracking site and found out that my status was  "ready to be scheduled for interview" since September!!  

 

My interview was at 9:30am, my husband and I arrived to the federal building around 9:15am.  We were not called until around 10am.  IO took my USC husband first, and I was told to wait outside until she comes back for me.  After about 10 minutes, I went into the room and my husband stayed while I was being interviewed.  I've read many interview experiences so I expected to put under oath and show the IO my ID.  But none of that happened (apparently my USC husband did not do this either) , she started to ask me some questions immediately.  She was very friendly and it was like having a casual conversation.  It seemed like she asked the same questions to my husband, and was trying to see if our answers match.  She only asked a few questions - where we went for our first date, where is our  wedding going to be (we have our big wedding celebration in May), how did my husband propose to me, and what bank we use for our joint account.  And she proceeded with those yes/no questions from I-485.  I brought three photobooks, i-94 ,and a big binder of updated documents, such as bank/utility/mobile statements, wedding related receipts, travel itinerary since I submitted the AOS package.  She said she has plenty of proof from my original pacakge, so she didn't even take a look at them.  Only thing she looked at was our wedding invitation, which she made a copy and included in our original AOS packet.  Then she went through our basic information from the application, I took my fingerprint and took a picture.  She told me I was approved on the spot, but did not get a stamp.  She explained to me about ROC in two years.  It was overall a pleasant experience.  I think this almost took about 30 minutes.  My status changed the next day, and I received the green card exactly a week after my interview.  

 

I wish everyone a good luck! If your marriage is real, I don't think you should worry at all.

I don't think a lot of people worry in that way..... It is only weird that everything takes so long for us. I mean, I came here on a K1. My EAD took 7 months. Some applicants in the same field office as me received their GC in less than 4 months.

I've just received this answer today about a SR I made on March 19th:

 

"The status of this service request is:

 

USCIS systems indicate that your case is awaiting an interview. You should be receiving this appointment notification from your local Field Office once they are able to schedule the appointment. If you need to expedite your case, you may contact your local USCIS Field Office."

 

 

I did other SRs before and the answer was always "we are reviewing your case", the interview was never mentioned. Do you think this is progress or just another generic message?

Sounds like progress to me. What did you say to the Tier 2 officer to get this SR on the 485? I feel like I should try doing something like this. Or did you raise the SR online?

I hope it's progress too! Yes, just an online SR. Actually I did a SR in Feb, got nothing, did another one in March, then they finally answered it today.

I'm surprised they let you raise an SR on the 485. Now that they've updated the way they show processing times, it looks like everything is "in date" and "normal" if you've been waiting 1-2 years :/

Maybe it's because I've raised that unanswered one in Feb, which allowed me to raised this last one in March?

 

Try to raise one and let me know!

Will do! DId you do it on the old USCIS site or the new DHS one? It's locked me out of accessing the old USCIS site for some reason

I think I did it on the old one, but isn't the SR page the same as before?

 

I also can't access the old processing times page, but the SR one is the same to me at least.

@mhan27 Thanks for sharing and it's interesting the IO separated you guys. But like you said, there's nothing to worry about if the marriage is legit.

 

@Londonergirl It's a generic email. I received it twice last week but not at all this week.
