So we got approved....... after USCIS held is for additional security and background checks, I know it’s because he is Muslim and has a common name. The Consular said we would get AP as everyone does but now they send us this new form Trump started using the DS-5535 and basically they ask you supplemental questions and ask for 15 years history instead of 5. So we waited out USCIS and now an additional wait because he is Muslim with a common name. He is no criminal and never posts anti government or anything on his social media. It’s just not fair. Supplemental Questions why a joke. This man don’t even drink alcohol or say a curse besides hell he not a darn terrorist. Ugh !!!!!

Wait...what? I'm confused. Your embassy sent you a supplemental question form to fill out now because of what exactly? And what exactly are they asking for? And is this just for Muslim/Islamic beneficiaries? So you can't get the visa until you fill this out or did before your NOA2?

Okay @Maria1989...after doing some research on this DS-5535, unfortunately you are correct. You're fiancé picked to fill out this form for additional background security information and while they are not necessarily saying it in BOLD print language because NAFSA claims any beneficiary from any country can be picked at random, from a VJ thread I read on here and other websites, it appears that they are picking those that are from Muslim/Islamic countries AND those that might have traveled to any Muslim/Islamic country of any period of time because I saw a Philippine beneficiary say she was requested to fill out the form because she had travel to a Muslim/Islamic country and listed it on her K1 petition. I have also seen a beneficiary on here who was from Korea also say they had to fill this form out. Yes, this is a form Trump requested to have created since the court's keep denying his travel ban on those targeted areas. Based on the forum I have seen on here the MAJORITY of these individuals come from or petitioned from the Middle East areas.

Bad news...based on what I've read, the process is suppose to take no longer than 30 days, but some have waited as long as 2 months (and I guess longer depending on what or is reviewing this form). The form is voluntary but of course if you don't fill it out you are subjected to having your visa denied. Any question can be left blank but of course anything not answered can delay the approval or have you subjected to being denied.

Girl, I am soooooo sorry that you two are going through this still. At least you two are together right now although I know you both would prefer to be here in together in the US starting your lives together. Keep us (or me) posted on how this turns out. I will keep you in prayer that you get a fast answer.

Well...I got a response to my email I sent on Thursday to CSC directly and while the response was quicker than submitting an online inquiry (you right about that @NateAndJessica), the response is still the same which is my case has been assigned to an officer and is under review but they are unable to give me a specific date by which a decision will be rendered but I will receive further notice in due course.

So, it's the same information, the email just had better use of vocabulary and sentence structure this go around.

Today makes 301 days of waiting with no RFE and counting!!! Only 64 days away from hitting our year milestone!!! As much as I hate to admit it, but I think I will hit my year before I get the NOA2!

@Maria1989

We were also placed in AP after my fiance's interview in Beirut on February 5th.  We were asked to submit the DS-5535 via email and did so on February 6th.  There were almost daily date updates to our case for the first week, but the last update in the system was on February 20th.  The embassy has told us that we can inquire about the status after 60 days.  No one who has reported getting this form has reported hearing anything within 60 days -- most are reporting 90 days or more.  Hang in there, at least you know you're not alone!

Yes and that’s the reason we were given for the 9 month wait continued background and security checks. He is Muslim and basically Sengal and The Gambia are 90% Muslim. This is crazy. One wait to the next, unfortunately if it doesn’t come soon, I will have to leave. Problem is we went through additional Background and Security Checks at the USCIS phase. Like really and I read .5% of applicants get this. ####### is my luck coming to 😳

Well your case is being re-reviewed by DOS which is NVC based on what I've read. Just make sure you complete the form in it's entirety and correctly and you should be fine.

This is crazy. Just really nonsense we went to 9 months of processing and background checks at the USCIS phase. It’s just because he Muslim and Trumps new “vetting” system. It’s so frustrating.

My fiance is not Muslim, but it appears they are asking everyone from MENA countries to complete this form.  It's unfortunate that we made it this far and now have no idea how much longer it will take.

We did, every question. It’s just like same answers on the petition asking for 15 years instead of 5 and asking for your sibling names and birthdates and asking for your social media information and your phone numbers for the last 5 years. They say it’s voluntarily because they know it’s a total invasion of privacy but if you don’t send it in, they will deny you. I’m so over it now I just don’t care. How much more can they check ?????? There is nothing there

I ask that same question every day with us. How much more reviewing can you possibly be doing on our case? 301 days and I can't even get a RFE at this point.

The ones that need the "extra vetting" are the ones that slip right through. While the rest of us are put through the ringer for nothing.

Yeah to my understanding those from MENA countries were affected, but we aren’t in a MENA country I believe it’s because he is Muslim and has a common name.
