Question....could I just e-sign  submit and print the confirmation page myself but just certify that it was me who completed the DS-160? Would that be an issue? I only ask because I'm concerned about the internet connection not being secure at the internet cafe in Jamaica and I really want to get everything scheduled today asap instead of waiting until tomorrow afternoon when my fiance gets off of work.

@LabOz...what's your opinion on this?

Anyone can provide feedback as well.

I dont think it would be a problem for you to e-sign the DS-160 if you will be paying for the visa fee online. But if he will be paying the visa fee himself  in his country I think it would be best for him to e-sign the Ds-160. But to be on the safe side so that there is no problems with you e-signing for him I would say just be patient and wait, let him e-sign it himself. I know the anxiousness of wanting to schedule the interview but soon this will be all behind you.

My lawyer just submitted for Jessica... but thats with an official uscis form filled out so she could do so. Technically I don't think its a great idea to forge a "signature", I'm sure nothing would come of it but in theory you would be committing a crime.

That last little blurb on the ds-160 about if anyone else helped complete the form makes you feel empowered to put yourself but I'm pretty sure that spot is reserved for legal representatives. Its pretty poorly worded, probably on purpose to trip people up.

He's just gonna do it tomorrow after he gets off of work. I was just trying to rush to get everything scheduled because I'm so ready to get this part over and done with.

Hi sorry about delayed response I'm not on the board much. Getting ready for wedding.

The form DS-160 does specify that the applicant must press the sign button. In all honestly if you did it I don't think it would be a big deal BUT it can be determined by the IP address from where it was submitted.

To be on the extra safe side I would just wait and have him press the magic button himself.

Yes internet abroad can suck and we had issues filling the form overseas as well. We ended up completing it at one of the higher end hotels in the Philippines as the other places we went it would just time out.

So bottom line is it's a judgement call on your end but they do insist that HE sign it.

If ever they ask at interview then he would just need to be honest and say that YOU did it if you decide to go that route and explain about the internet issues.

I'm just gonna let him do it tomorrow to be on the safe side and just walk him through it over the phone hoping the system won't time out. It's all completed and the passport photo is uploaded so it shouldn't time out that quick on him.

At this point in your journey, it's better to be safe than sorry.

To be completely honest, it probably wouldn't be an issue if you did it, but it's not worth the potential risk.

Remember, the reason we are all going through this process is because we want to do this immigration process the "right" way.  Don't lose sight of that now.

@Trinab80 Once I completed the DS-160 I only had her sign and print the receipt page. I don't think you'll have any issues about security since he isn't putting in any info only signing and printing out a page. Once you create an account on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-JM/iv/users/sign_in you can pay the fee $265US or 34,980.00JMD  then schedule the interview. I scheduled a month out to give her time for the medical, certificate of No-Impediment and police certificate. She got the no-impediment last week so we're just waiting on police certificate. I suggest after paying the visa fee you go online to schedule the medical immediately since they take your info and email the medical date later on. After that you can sit back and only worry about getting Reni a one way ticket to you. Although my fiancee and I know almost everything about each other we still practice interview questions daily. I know she can get nervous and want her comfortable with the questions so she doesn't freeze up. Girl can you believe we are at the end??? I never thought this time would come. Her medical is next week Monday. I'll let you know how it goes!
