Yeah to my understanding those from MENA countries were affected, but we aren’t in a MENA country I believe it’s because he is Muslim and has a common name.

It's affects those from MENA AND Muslim/Islamic practicing countries. Even if the beneficiary from another country has traveled to a Muslim/Islamic country or faith practicing country, and it was listed on the K1, they are subjected to this DS-5535. There was a girl from the Philippines who said she had to travel to a Muslim/Islamic country and was requested to fill out this form. A Korean beneficiary as well.

ROC Filing:

4/21/2021 - Sent ROC Package via FedEx

4/22/2021 - FedEx package delivered and signed

5/11/2021 - Check cashed

5/14/2021 - Received NOA1 via mail (NOA1 date: 5/8/2021)

6/9/2021 -  Biometrics waived - Case updated to Fingerprints taken

I ask that same question every day with us. How much more reviewing can you possibly be doing on our case? 301 days and I can't even get a RFE at this point.

The ones that need the "extra vetting" are the ones that slip right through. While the rest of us are put through the ringer for nothing.

Exactly........ agreed. Basically you waiting for an Approval, no RFE coming this late.

I understand the need for vetting, but you right the real ones slip through the cracks..... smh

Look how many home grown terrorist we have !!!! Kids scared to go to school.

Well...I got a response to my email I sent on Thursday to CSC directly and while the response was quicker than submitting an online inquiry (you right about that @NateAndJessica), the response is still the same which is my case has been assigned to an officer and is under review but they are unable to give me a specific date by which a decision will be rendered but I will receive further notice in due course.

So, it's the same information, the email just had better use of vocabulary and sentence structure this go around.

Today makes 301 days of waiting with no RFE and counting!!! Only 64 days away from hitting our year milestone!!! As much as I hate to admit it, but I think I will hit my year before I get the NOA2!

@Trinab80 got my response to my leveled up "supervisor response" to inquiry today as well... they are adjudicating the application and should have a decision within 45 day. exact same form I received 60 days ago with the last inquiry... how do these people sleep at night. and how the hell did we get singled out for this unfeeling  couldnt care less about other humans torture bullshit, #######!

I'm sorry that you didn't get the results you were looking for. Just looks like there's no point to try anything else and we're just gonna have to wait this out.

Yes and that’s the reason we were given for the 9 month wait continued background and security checks. He is Muslim and basically Sengal and The Gambia are 90% Muslim. This is crazy. One wait to the next, unfortunately if it doesn’t come soon, I will have to leave. Problem is we went through additional Background and Security Checks at the USCIS phase. Like really and I read .5% of applicants get this. ####### is my luck coming to 😳

sorry to hear Maria... just awful. thinking of you two. And working hard personally this next cycle to see Trump is a 1 term idiot.

yup thats official. why even offer a call center and official inquiries, complete and total dog and pony bs that ends up just torturing those that are begging for answers. inhuman.

I am in the same boat at day 272. Security checks have been “pending” since January and they can’t say how much longer. When I spoke with USCIS they recommended I schedule an Infopass appointment. Went there yesterday and no new news...and that the security checks can “take a week or take a year” and that everytime I submit an inquiry I am slowing down my case. Seriously? So yeah, guess I’ll be waiting too

I’m sorry I waited about 270 days with the reason of security and background checks pending also. Eventually, I did the same and sat and waited. If it’s taking this long, I would tell you to expect that DS-5535 after your Interview and Approval, like we received.

After researching around, I have found that typically MENA countries get them, and Muslims, however they are also “random” and even someone from Canada got one. I would really suggest you prepare for that as well since for some reason you stuck in Security and Background Checks, just in case you get one. Hopefully not....

POE was March 6th, Finally over that hill now onto climbing the smaller bumps of Marriage and AOS. POE was really quick at IAD in Washington. Not a single question was asked or a single bag was searched. Which was a good thing as we had a reasonable lay over but not long. Thanks for all that gave us support here.

I love IAD unfortunately this time we flew through Delta and will POE at JFK.  Hopefully we have no issues as well when this is finally over.

I told Reni about you and Jallow situation and just praying that we don't get randomly selected for this DS-5535. USCIS has never confirmed that we are pending due to background security checks every time I called them but I'm only left to think we're delayed because of of denied entry into the U.S. in 11/2016. The only thing is Jamaica is not a MENA country nor is Muslum/Islamic religion practice in Jamaica and the only country he's traveled to was the Bahamas which also doesn't follow under those parameters. Although they claim this is a random selection it seems target specific areas of Trump's concerning interest.

All anyone of us can do is just pray that we all make it through this intact and one the right side of this long emotional rollercoaster.

Just know that I'm still here with you sitting Indian style at our praying place girl!!! We're gonna make it!

WE ARE ALL GONNA MAKE IT!!!!

I'm from NY and I HATE flying through JFK. Anticipate long lines and attitude having border officers. They red flagged my mom once because she has too many stamps in her passport (my family and I love to travel frequently all through the year). Hopefully you two will have no problems...luckily our POE will be Philly and I love them. They do their job efficiently without making you feel like a criminal before you walk up to the counter.
