Hey guys.

Im still waiting for the letter from uscis about my aproval, it hasnt been updatet on the website yet but my fiance called them and they sayd its aproved.

My question is, we are a bit confused as to what to do next. They send the case now to nvc correct? So we have to wait on nvc about the number so i can book my interview + medical. And get all papers ready for that. Is there anything alse i should know about the nvc and about what to do next ?

All my Dominican K1 beneficiaries Please!! Pleasee!! Don't go to the medical exam without the appointment letter or a letter from the embassy with your name and case number on it

My fiancee and my son went there and even when she shows all the confirmation page of everything, case number, nvc letter and we contact the us embassy twice and they told us with that was enough to be able to get that done they keep asking for that letter so I ask the us embassy to email me a authorization letter o whatever they could send me in order to get the exam ready...

So please don't go without that

Hey guys we got our NVC case # on March 14 and have a few questions about filing out ds-160. I hope there are some people here that have already prepared their ds-160 that may be able to help us.

1. When it asks my fiance for his physical address, if he is living in a different address than the one stated on his ID card. Does he put where he is living currenty or what is stated on the ID?

2. When it asks about the address where we will stay in the U.S. We don't know yet. We will be getting an appartment asap since we are both overseas right now. Before that it's likely we will be in a hotel if we can't find somewhere to stay. So what do we put here?

3. When it asks "Are there other persons traveling with you?" I will be traveling with my fiance since im overseas with him. But does this count? Or are they asking just anyone who is not a U.S. citizen?

4.When it asks "Has anyone ever filed an immigration petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship
and Immigration Services:" I saw a tutorial on youtube and she put this as a NO. But shouldn't he put YES since I filed i-129f for him?

Keeping in mind that the DS-160 is used for more than just the K1 Visa, some of the questions may seem a bit odd in the context of the K1.

Therefore:

1) Specifically, the DS-160 asks for Home Address and Mailing address.   The Home Address is where your fiance has been residing.  Mailing address is where your fiance receives mail and is generally where their passport will be mailed to.  They may be the same.

2) The address of stay in the U.S. should be the address where you will be staying in the U.S.   If you will be staying in a hotel, state the name and address of the Hotel.   It is not ok to only state that you are staying at a "Hotel".  If you will be staying with friends or family, then their address would be appropriate.   If you do not know where you will stay, now is a good time to figure that out.

3) In the context of the K1 visa, "other persons traveling with you" would refer to derivative K2 visa holders.  If there are no derivative K2s traveling with your fiance, the answer is NO.

4) The i-129f petition is not a petition for an immigration Visa, even though it is a pathway for immigration.   A K1 is technically a non-immigrant visa.   A CR1, IR1, or K3 are examples of immigrant visas.  So, in the context of your filing of a i-129f, you have not filed an immigration petition.  Unless there were actual petitions in the past for a CR1, IR1, or K3, the answer is NO.

I should have been a bit more specific by stating "i-129f petition for K1 visa",  since the i-129f may also used to apply for a K3 visa, although these days the K3 is all but obsolete.  Since you likely filed the i-129f to petition for a K1 visa, the answer remains NO, unless there was a prior actual immigration petition (not a K1 as explained previously).  :)

Does anyone know if it’s possible to check the wait time for an interview at the Montreal embassy? I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough, but I’m impatient and want to know now if I can.

Hi,

Unless things have changed, the wait times for Montreal seem to be around about three(ish) weeks for booking an interview.  Unfortunately the only way to find out for sure is after you get Packet 4 when they send you the link to their processing site. Once you've made an account there, and paid the fee, you'll get a drop down menu showing the first available date. That's the only access I've ever heard of or had.

Once you've done that and chosen your date, then you can book your medical. You're almost there! Congrats :)
