You’ll have to call them. Call them with 5 days or so. I’m not sure how long it is now at NVC but it could be a few days to a few weeks till you get a case number.

@George & Roth What do I need when I call the NVC for the case number?

Hey, just the WAC# and they may ask birthdays.

Check this out

And this is where people are tracking how long it takes with NVC

You don't have to call - you will eventually receive a letter in the mail with the info. But you CAN call. They say allow at least 2 weeks before calling. Our NOA2 was on December 1 and I waited until January 18 to call (figured it would be slower due to the holidays at that time). They'd actually just received our case the day before on the 17th, so he gave me the case number over the phone. The beneficiary can go ahead with their medical at that point, but he did advise not to take any action regarding the interview yet until the packet was received, which only took another week or week and a half after that I believe.

When you call, it's an automated system. I THINK I chose Option 3 (it's the one about confirming/verifying a case, can't remember exactly how it was worded). Just tell them if you are the petitioner/beneficiary and you're checking to see if your K1 Visa application/case has been received yet. You can mention the NOA2 date - I don't think he necessarily asked for it. They'll ask for the USCIS receipt number (the one that starts with W). I think he asked for either my birthday, or my fiancé's (I'm the petitioner), so have that info ready.

Håll ut, y'all.

I have called the nvc a couple of times. Both times they said it takes 6 weeks for them to receive stuff from the ucsis. I wonder if they know about the U.S. mail? A old guy with a limp could walk it there and hand-deliver it in less than 6 weeks. Back in the 1800's the Pony Express would take mail across the entire continent in just a few days, on a horse. But......it is what it is. We will all get our stuff approved. It's just a question of whether or not we go crazy waiting.

Martin,

In January it took 22 days for our approval to reach NVC.

When you call NVC in a couple of weeks you will hit option #1 & then #7 (if I recall correctly)

They will ask for the WAC#....

They will either responded..."we haven't received anything"

or ask for other information (names and birthdays)...when they ask for this identifying information you will know they have received the petition.

Now you can ask for the Case Number.

For here on....it is Country and embassy specific.  (every place is different)

The best info you will receive, from this point forward, is to find others ahead of you in your embassy to

understand the process and how you engage it.  The form of correspondence,  online registration and documentation (DS-160) process, exam & interview scheduling process, interview documentation requirements, police certificates, exam sites, fees, etc.

(use information from others -  not specific to your embassy process - carefully)

From here on - you are in control of much of the process to the interview...

Good Luck - you're over the hump......

I'm happy for you.

When you call them and after you had given them your WAC # and they started asking for your complete name, birthday, etc. etc. - you can bet your bottom dollar that they already have an NVC number for you! :) Good luck!!!!

Tier 2 had no information for me.

"Be patient."

"I know how you feel."

Things I never want to hear again.

Day 309. 39 days since RFE was received.

That's the answer we always got from them too. Day 313 since NOA1. Sent two online inquiries already. Called them plenty of times.

I've found the AOS thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/131-adjustment-of-status-case-filing-and-progress-reports/

I even have my own April thread. Apologies for the offense I cause by posting in this K-1 thread for too long.

I am off to hang with the other AOSholes. :secret::star::wow:
