England and the UK are different. However, it's complicated... so let me try to explain.

 

That region of the world is known by things in three different categories. Countries, groups of countries, and Islands.

 

England is a country. As is Scotland and Wales. All countries.

 

The three of those countries sit on a single land mass (an Island), collectively known as Great Britain (GB). Folks from here are called British. Great Britain is often shortened into Britain.  

 

There's another smaller island sitting off the west coast of Britain called Ireland. It is broken into two. A country called Ireland (Eire), and a country called Northern Ireland. Ireland (Eire) is an independent self governed country. Northern Ireland is a actually (politically) joined with Great Britain into something called the United Kingdom (UK). The UK is a collection of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A single governed place - a United Kingdom. The fact that the island of Ireland is broken into two - one part self governed and the other a part of the UK, has been a political hot potato for decades. 

 

It's interesting that you can be English. Scottish. Welsh. Irish. Or British.  But not UKish.

 

There's no such thing as an English or Scottish or Welsh passport. You have a British passport. It's a little confusing that you have a British passport even if you're from Northern Ireland. However, if you're from Ireland, you have an Irish passport.

I think I am one of the only ones left without a NOA2 at this point...hoping I won’t be here waiting a lot longer but really don’t know. I’ve done everything I can think of at this point and the only answer we get is that the security checks are still pending

It's not dying, just a lot of people are in flux in the post-NOA2 world.  

 

My fiance has his interview scheduled for 5/2 (could have done it as early as 4/2!) so that it's after his university finals and is planning to go for his medical sometime in April. I'll be going out from 4/27 - 5/13 and we're planning on him doing POE sometime in early June - like literally almost a year for this process! Feels weird to just be waiting for the days to pass!

A month ago I had my interview in Australia, fast forward 1 month, and we are officially but unemotionally married! (Our formal ceremony/wedding is June 30th).

 

Entry into LAX was super easy. 

Filled in a declaration form from the customer service counter, (you couldn't use the computers for K1 visa's apparently), went to the immigration officer, he took my sealed envelope, passport, and fingerprints. Stamped me though in less than 2 minutes!

From plane to baggage claim in under 30 mins!

 

I entered 2 weeks after my interview. We decided to road trip from Chicago to Vegas in an RV that cost $1/day. Highly recommend it if you have some spare change to drive across the USA! We even received $300 fuel credit!

We stopped into several National Parks and had the best time taking in some of America's greatest sights - Estes, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Monument Valley, and of course, Grand Canyon.

 

We were able to stop into a random town at an SSA office and get my SSN sorted in about 30 minutes.

 

Finally yesterday, we were able to walk into the Vegas Marriage license office, obtain the license, walk around the corner to the county clerk, and become officially and unemotionally married in less than an hour. (Our witnesses were another couple who were also getting their marriage license. We waited for them outside and we walked together to the clerk office become officially hitched).

 

We then took a Lyft down to the Vegas welcome sign and snapped a few photos with our official documentation!

Cheesy & corny, but makes for a great story in the future 

 

Onto the AOS paperwork!
