I could cry. Problem. After. Problem. After. Problem.

Oh, with how well he organises things... 😂

I'm bracing myself for that poo storm. At last I'll be there for that though and not 3642 miles away.

Thank you so much for this.  There are those moments when we feel alone with the world on our shoulders.  I was having that.  Now I realize that I will just make it work.  Whatever I need to do.  Looks like we may spend a month in my apartment so I will get good inflatable beds.  Once we get the house we will all go out and they will be able to pick out their furniture.

Looks like Amazon Prime might be a great idea!  Chicago has a pretty big Filipino community so there are stores and even a Jolibees here when they really get homesick.  I am actually looking forward to eating Rose's cooking on a decent stove!  She uses a propane burner and has no oven in the Philippines.  Her food still tastes amazing.  I am also looking forward to teaching them what real spaghetti tastes like, what real hot dogs are and what midwestern corn fed beef tastes like!

That is not a bad idea about the furniture. I purposefully did not buy some items so she could pick them out in the store here, such as my sons furniture. And for other things I asked her to go on Amazon and pick them, she did and sent me the links. (Like our new Rachel Ray cookware!). And everything I decided to buy I sent her a link to get her approval first! That was the fun part, us sending each other links to what we wanted and spending all of the money. Now I need to earn it back

When I first arrived in Cambodia in 2012 we used to cook on one of these, which is what many people useL

After reading the 10th explosion story and finding out these are generally not meant for re-use we upgraded to a stovetop which connected to a larger tank we had delivered whenever it ran out.

Now we have a full stove......it's a whole new world!

You are a good husband.  Let her pick out what she wants...Happy Wife - Happy Life

Rose has the big tank.  They have local guys that come out and replace empty tanks within an hour or so 24/7.  The Philippines really never sleeps.

If it all works out with our POE, we can spend the first few weeks together shopping.  The kids will love it (especially if they get to eat out) and Rose will be able to get what she wants.  She deserves it.

I will just need a few necessities like their beds and towels.

Sounds like you’re sorted! But very important and I forgot, I installed this as well! I assume it’s popular in the Philippines also? $20-$30!

(Ok, I may have fallen in love with it during my 5 years without the paper) :luv:

Yes indeed. It takes some getting used to. I may find a way to get it hooked up to warm water though. Rose doesn’t have a water heater!

@Lotts   I second this!

How long has it been since your medical again? Did your interview get pushed back because of the lack of action from your doc's office?

It is always warm there. To goes all the way down to 85 where she lives.  They don’t need the warm water but I still would heat some on the stove for my showers.

Not there, but similar I am getting ready for my two + weeks of "showers"  with cold water.  She said she would put a pot on the fire for me, but I said if you did this all your life I can handle a couple of weeks.   That may change when i am back there.  this will be my first time with their colder months it does get down to the upper 60's at night and the water comes from the mountain.

All this talk of cold showers is going to be me the next couple of weeks. I really don't mind the shower temps because too me it feels more like lukewarm. Now if it was cold water like it is here at my house, then that might not work so well.

My fiance also said she would heat water, but I was like I can handle it and no need to go to all that trouble just for me.

Better warn her about shrinkage!  60 degrees out with water coming off a mountain?  I’d go for the pot on the fire!
