I was getting complacent sitting and waiting.  All of the sudden (relatively) I am having to make sure I have a house for them since my 1 bedroom apartment might be great for bonding but not really great for comfort.  So a house, beds, furniture, AOS, school, food...no stress.  I've lived alone for 7 years and now i will have 4, possibly 6 mouths to feed!  My kids have actually shown interest in living with me now that they are older.  So a nice household of a 21, 18, 17 and 15 year old after being alone...wow.  I am excited to get this started but damn, I'm also scared.

Oh boy oh boy!! your days are so going to change for sure!!! It will be a honeymoon state for all of you and then reality hits in. Just make sure you all have your own little spot in the house where you can have some peace and calm, even if it is just a chair in the kitchen ... or in your case garage :P  I am total with you on the being scared shitless... believe me we all are, on both sides in this process. Though in the end, we are finally there, within reach of our dreams and all the snuggles *it is the part I miss the most with my fiance Jason* in the world, to turn around and reach out to touch him..yeah HEAVEN!

Moving back from Cambodia I owned NOTHING here in the US. Amazon loves me! (As does Jet.com, Walmart.com, Bobs furniture and others)

I had basically everything delivered over the course of 1 month as I just found my home late January, and that includes beds and bedsets, TVs, as well as every single bit of furniture for kitchen, dining, bathroom, living. I used taskrabbit.com to have people help build things which needed building. I even got a car, it was hectic.

I had my folks visiting from Florida and stay with me so they could collect items as they arrived. I think you can use Amazon lockbox or specify dates if you require weekend only.

I looked up nearby Asian markets, she went today and is in love with it as Shoprite did not have some of the things she wanted. You should do the same!

Hi!

If you look at my timeline, you'll see that I received packet 3 from my consulate on Feb 7th. I sent back the response (including request for interview) the next day.

My interview was originally scheduled for March 27th, but an earlier interview slot opened up, so I had my interview yesterday.

Compared to some other people here, yesterday's interview date was already late/long, let alone if it would have been the 27th.

Like @George & Roth said: it differs per embassy.

I assume you scheduled your interview online? If so, just keep checking to see if an earlier slot opens up.

Hi @Hadassah123,

Thanks for your reply!

Through calls and emails I have it rescheduled to Tuesday 20th! So excited its finally all coming together.

I hope your interview went well yesterday :)

Not that my situation is nearly close to the barometers of yours... I feel you! I've ONLY ever lived alone, ever since I moved out of my mom's house in college. I've never had so much as a roommate. Of course the multiple visits he's made to the states have only been a small fraction of the magnitude of actually LIVING with someone....but I did learn a lot during those visits. Not all of it was perfect, which is realistic. We have to learn one another's personal space/boundaries and all the little characteristics you don't learn about a person until you live together. You have to do that with three new people - your partner, and her children. At the end of the day, we'd all do absolutely anything to be with our partners for good, so it's not really what I'd consider an inconvenience or burden. But for sure a change and a learning experience.

I have some nerves just over the one person moving in with me! :P Just take it one thing at a time. Everything won't get taken care of in one swoop - that's something I personally have had to come to terms with, lol.

Håll ut, y'all.

Thank you so much for this.  There are those moments when we feel alone with the world on our shoulders.  I was having that.  Now I realize that I will just make it work.  Whatever I need to do.  Looks like we may spend a month in my apartment so I will get good inflatable beds.  Once we get the house we will all go out and they will be able to pick out their furniture.

Looks like Amazon Prime might be a great idea!  Chicago has a pretty big Filipino community so there are stores and even a Jolibees here when they really get homesick.  I am actually looking forward to eating Rose's cooking on a decent stove!  She uses a propane burner and has no oven in the Philippines.  Her food still tastes amazing.  I am also looking forward to teaching them what real spaghetti tastes like, what real hot dogs are and what midwestern corn fed beef tastes like!

Wow. Looks like i’ve missed a lot.

Happy for all the good news and progress!

been lurking around more in the K1 visa journey facebook group.. I kinda feel bad for the other people there who’s questions rarely get answered as the majority of people there are from the Ph.

anyway, anyone here who’s currently undergoing the medical saga? I’m kinda stressed out more now that i know i’m delayed because of sputum exams.

Hope everyone here has been well :)

Just do what they need you to do.  It is just a short delay compared to the rest of your life.
